Sanctity, like a cat, abhors filth.
What is the most times you've watched a single film? (Ballpark.)

There are a lot of films I have watched over and over and over again. Like 20 or more times (over the course of many years, obviously). Some films are like albums, you can watch them as often as you like and enjoy them every time.

Do other people do that or is 2 or 3 times the maximum for most?

I have seen Friday and Next Friday a ridiculous amount of times.

Know all of the lines and still find it very funny.

This despite the fact there is some very poor acting in parts of both films.

The Hudsucker Proxy stands out, still watch it every now and then.

I tend to rewatch moves that are easy viewing, multiple times. Basically, films like Star Wars, The Breakfast Club, Planes Trains etc. Sometimes, I get scared to rewatch a film that I thought was great, in case, I didn't like it as much second time around.

I have seen the following films countless times:
Star Wars IV-VI
Pulp Fiction
Napoleon Dynamite
Bill & Ted's excellent adventure
Back to the future 1 and 2

The following films lots of times, 20 +
Anchorman
Old School
Dumb and Dumber
Die Hard
Robocop

Yeah, I've seen Star Wars (episodes IV, V and VI) countless times.

After that it's Apocalypse Now, I can watch that anytime.

I've seen Lawrence of Arabia a few times, too. It's a beautiful looking film.

If I think a film is that good I have to watch it again to verify it. I also find I miss a lot the first time I watch things through, so the second time is often when things really fall into place. So watching a really good film for the second time is a real joy.

The film I have seen most times overall has to be Withnail and I. Scarface, The Godfathers and Apocalypse Now all up there too.

Recently the films I have watched most frequently, though less overall as I only saw them for the first time in the last 4 years, are Sideways, How To Get Ahead in Advertising and Apocalypo. Seen them 3 or 4 times each in as many years.

Not sure I need to see the last of those again now any time soon but the first two will make me laugh over and over again for years to come Im sure.

Oh I agree, about re watching films. Sometimes they are better 2nd and 3rd time around. Especially the truly great ones.

I've watched Terminator 2 on Good Friday for the last 12-15 years. That is probably the only movie I see on regular basis.
I don't like seeing films very often though as there are so many good out there I haven't seen.

There two types of watching films repeatedly. When you watch a movie accidentally again and you don't mind because it is a good movie. And there are many movies of that sort. Or you watch movie again on purpose because you know you didn't catch/didn't get some points, details. And therefore I am going to watch Memento and Oldboy again.

I've probably watched The Matrix 30 times or so.Same goes for Lord of the Rings and Dumb & Dumber. Never get tired of them

Bloody good job too. I have watched those films about 4 and 3 times respectively, I think.

But there is another type of film. One that is like the DVD equivelent of your best mate. Everything that is ever going to be said between you has been said, so when you go to the pub it is not for the original conversation, but because it is entertaining and effortless.

I used to love the Matrix but the whole thing seems tainted now by the poor sequels :(

That's probably the only film I've watched multiple times, back when I was an irritating, long-haired student. Funnily enough, I now live right round the corner from the "perfumed ponce" pub.

I agree that movies are often better on repeat viewing. Books too. But I never seem to have the time to watch/read stuff again. I get anxious enough about trying to keep on top of all the good new stuff, without spending an evening going over old ground.

And don't get me started on how hard it is to give a decent album enough listens these days.

I've seen Snatch and Lock Stock a few times. Also went to see Shaun of the Dead twice and have seen it about 3 or 4 times. Anchorman too, and the films that are on every christmas.

Pretty embarassed to admit that I've seen Friday over 50 times easily, me & my then housemate could pretty much receit every line in that film - but then I used to like getting tromboned though, suppose that helped.

There are some films out there that I feel I havn't watched enough times if that makes any sense?

ive probably seen Star Wars about 50 times, same with Con Air, and ive seen the first Fast and the Furious atleast 30 times,

There was a time when we only had a video-recorder and I remember borrowing three video tapes from a friend: The Hitcher, Breakfast Club, and Willow (with Val Kilmer). I watched those three movies a few times in the week for the next several months. That was late 80s I think.

I'm abit obsessed with the Harry Potter films, seen them loads of times.

Also - Goodfellas - Brilliant film, must watch bits of atleast once a week

Both of those two get better with repeat viewing, just like Fight Club, the film I've watched the most though is White Men Can't Jump, never get tired of it.

I saw one of those when I was in bed with flu a few years back, and thought it was shocking. Don't think I laughed once.

Should I go back and have another look on the off-chance I was being a little he-bitch, and feeling so sorry for myself that I had no sense of humour? Or is it just a bit shit?

Hmmm
Scream 1 2 and 3
The Butterfly Effect
Dogma
Mallwarts
Memento
Cellular
Halloween
The Thing
and of course
The Shining.
Loads more that I watch over and over again.

Didn't notice you posted this, wasn't keen on Next Friday because of no Smokey.

Reckon I could still do a bit, although I would probably never watch it by choice again.
