And I already provided mine. We won nothing and didn't even challenge for the league title so this away record you keep bragging about is completely pointless. City or Liverpool wouldn't have traded what they won for it. But what does it matter for someone who considers reaching Europe League final for Manchester United after getting KOed from CL group an achievement worthy to be mentioned.
Can't remember the Forest one,lost 1 -0 to City before they became Abu Dhabi FC.
The Sunderland game is occasionally on BT Match of the day classics,i was only 16 and in the Stretford end that day,Stuart Pearson was a good player,one of our best signings of that era,the Division 2 season was fun,took the league by storm on and off the pitch,but there was a lot less hype and analysis surrounding the game at that time was that better,I sometimes think so
We had the better of it for most of the game that night. Sammy McIlroy was sent off. Stan Bowles took a dive and the ref awarded a penalty. Sammy went a bit mental at the ref and got the red. Robertson scored from the spot and Birtles got their second right at the death. Bowles was laughing at the United fans and Ray Wilkins had a go at the smarmy little prick. Knocked the wind out of our sails that loss did. Funny that the papers were all saying that we'd drawn too many games to win the league but we only drew 10, as did Liverpool that season.
The Sunderland game was a blast. I'd just moved down to London for college and came up with some of the Cockney Reds. I still think the Doc would have won us the league had he been allowed to stay. I remember the game at Blackpool when it felt like a home game.
I’ve been a season ticket holder since 92 and a LMTB since 1980. We have had a few bad seasons here and there but I always had my heroes even in the poor seasons. This current team - wow - I dislike the vast majority and am indifferent to the rest - Ronaldo aside. Hope ETH can turn it around…..my son is wearing my 99 top at the moment - hope the happier days return soon but I’ve told him I went from 85 to 90 with out seeing any real glory and that he will enjoy the good times all the more when they return. Hope I’m still around to see it!
This WOULD have been the worst season to me if Liverpool went on to win the quadruple. Luckily it did not happen.
We have Gerrard to save the day, as usual. We used to think Moyes's season was all doom and gloom, but Gerrard's slip gave us a good laugh to cheer up at the end. We think this season is all doom and gloom, yet Gerrard lost a 2-goal lead which denied Liverpool another league title at the end. See the pattern here?
Now we only need Real to put Liverpool in their place and in the long run this season would just be another "meh" season like 2013-2014 and 2018-2019, not the total disaster we have feared.
