Viva Garnacho!

Agreed. I know there's nothing we love more than an academy player making an instant impact at United, but some of the hyperbole is going to get out of control (if it hasn't already). Hope he can continue improving and providing sparks, as this is fantastic for his development currently.

Personally, I don't see him doing or showing anything different than what he was doing at the Academy. My concern is what else does he have in the locker? Hopefully, ETH can improve on that otherwise in 5 years time, he will be a Walcott or Aaron Lennon.

I think Ten Hag put him at the correct stage of the match. I believe he is playing for the right manager, just hope he will have the patience and wont do a Pogba.
No, don't give him the no 7 jersey.
And no, don't rely on him for too much.
At that age he needs to be protected and made sure his confidence remains stable. No need to add unecessarry pressure to him.

Hope we remember all these comments when he hits his inevitable 2nd season syndrome. We all said similar things about Elanga when he was first introduced to the 1st team.

I think he's already shown way, way more than Elanga , but your overall point is spot on.

Greenwood is the most glaring example for me: he scored 10 PL goals in his breakthrough season, including a mad burst at the end, and a lot of fans got carried away into thinking there would be no drop-off at all - that summer was full of posts like "we don't need Haaland/Sancho, they'll just get in Greenwood's way". He scored one or two league goals in the next six months after that.

Same thing's already happening with Garnacho, most notably the multiple posts I remember from just before the World Cup that said he was already a better player than and should be starting ahead of Rashford.

What I love about him is whether he scores or not, whether he assists or not, he's so ready to take his man on, irrespective of the team he's facing.

No better feeling than seeing a youngster come in and play without fear. He's going to make mistakes and will have to be managed, but this season he's looked like our most dangerous attacker other than Rashford.

At some point, we will see that he isn't consistent enough with his tracking back— this is where Antony on the other wing is better.

getting close to first choice surely?

would mean moving rashford up top which isn’t ideal but it’s not like martial is doing much there

I can accept that from an 18 year old. Just hope he continues to develop his game. Early signs are extremely positive.

I think he deservs a starting place on form, and our best front 3 is Garnacho, Rashford and Antony right now.

However, it's hard to deny his effectiveness off the bench right now, so maybe it's best not to break that trend.

Desperately hope we get this kid signed on a long term deal. He's like a throwback to an old fashioned winger, plays with chalk on his boots, can go inside or outside and regularly beats his man. Has all the tools to be a star here.

Move our top scorer, the one who is about to break some scoring record to a position which is sub-optimum to accommodate an 18y.o in his 1st season?

We need to get him locked down with a new contract ASAP. He's unplayable at times this kid.

Sounds quite harsh if you put it like that but on the other hand it is some idea. We do not have much options upfront and Marcus with his form can play in any position in front 3 and it’s difficult to leave Garnacho on the bench.

If Rashford is up for it and does not have a problem to play upfront, ETH will surely consider this.

Feck. Ye of little faith. Give him the no. 7; make him the captain already and Deputy DOF by next season.
We hand no.7 to Beckham at age 22, and then we hand no.7 to Ronaldo at age 18.

Let's have more faith in Garnacho's talent, he really wants no.7 and I think he is good enough for it.

Let's revisit this in 12 months time... when he's 20. Let's just say I don't think he is at the same level as Ronaldo was at 18.

yeah

we did it yesterday and it won us the game so it has to be a consideration surely

especially when Martial is injured

I think Wout will make a big difference -- not so much as a top scorer but he will open up opportunities/space for others. I see more goal contributions from our midfielders now esp Bruno.

Sancho is in real trouble if this kid can produce this week in week out.

He reminded me of Robben actually, very slippery and you know what they were going to do, but fat load of good since they have the ability to just get by you no matter what.

I said it after watching him in the youths, if he can do anything like that in pros he will be a really special player. He was an amazing talent in Madrid. Kudos to our scouts who got this one dead right. He was a total gem and we got him for almost nothing.

He's new to the league. By the 2nd season, defenders will have worked him out.

The question is whether he can add more to his locker than sheer aggression, speed and cutting in. Personally, I think Giggs was a more difficult player to defend against even at the start of his 1st team career due to his body faints, tight turns etc than Garnacho. And Giggs had his dips in form ie lacked consistency -- partly due to his hamstring problems at the start.
But let's hope Garnacho doesn't get complacent and starts to add more to his bag of tricks.

Probably need to add more muscles and stronger strides when sprinting.

He can run alright, but his top speed isn't elite level. 30 years old Kyle walker can easily chase him.

A summary of him since his entrance:

You’ll have a hard time defending against him. He’s too two-footed. When he comes on, its in the end when you had 60 minutes of focusing, suddenly this Taz of a man goes in like a tornado, but your legs are too tired.

Produces at least 1-2 semi-big/big chances a game, usually off the bench. I thought we’d never seen a talent of Greenwood’s size in a long time but this guy just has it. He’s unimpressed like every big star knowing the size of himself is.

True but tbf Kyle Walker can chase almost everyone down in any given match. He is rapid.

Yeah he's similar to Robben imo too. Chelsea Robben technique was a bit more accomplished and got more trickery. Granted Robben is older at that time

He’s been very good and brings much needed excitement on the wing which we don’t see from our other players usually.. Curious how we spent £155m on two new wingers of the future and an Academy 18-year has shown more quality in his first season with the senior team than they have.

Garnacho is on 0,79 npxG+xAG per 90'. Compare that to 0,38 for Antony and 0,31 for Sancho.
On all competition he contributes to a goal every 100', that is at more than twice as good as the other two guys. Now obviously he plays as a super sub, but those numbers are ridiculous and I think we should keep him in this role for now, maybe some starts but overall he needs to be managed wisely. He's not only a raw talent, he's in fantastic form already.

After the false dawn of Sancho, Antony?....love to see a young exciting winger tearing it up. A huge huge talent! Love it!

I had to listen twice yesterday when this was belting out in the stadium. At first I thought we was chanting Ronaldo, I was like whaaat! But then realised Viva Garnachooo

Isn’t it mad how someone that’s come from your youth academy can perform a lot better than an 100m signing. Maybe it’s the pressure because there’s a lot less pressure to perform obviously.

I think because of his style he can play on the right and be just as effective. Don't know why Ten Hag won't try it. We'd have two absolute killers on either wing and our play will go to a whole new level.

His impact was huge. Ten hag deserves massive respect for the way he set up the team and then introduced Garnacho. He really exploited City's weakness in the transitions and where they had been causing a lot of problems with Walker and Mahrez doubling up near our 18 year box, actually caused them to concede because we got in a 3 on 2 situation

All he needs to do is add more muscle and do some speed training like Rashford did in the 16/17 off-season. He will be near unstoppable. Its one thing knowing a threat is coming, its another entirely thing being able to stop it. Everybody knows what Rashford's bread and butter is but its a whole different ball game trying to stop it when he's coming at you full speed. Speed, directness and skill are the biggest cheatcodes in football because it allows you to do absolutely anything you want to do on the football pitch. That is what Garnacho possesses.

I'd rather we used him as super sub than to move him to the right. Rashford seems to be doing well in this 60'LW/30' CF setup, and who else do we bring if we need a goal? Antony? Elanga? Maybe Sancho is back soon what would also be a boost for RW.
