Vitinha - PSG performances

Super slick midfielder with a lot of dog in him. You'd think him and Neves, being short in stature, would be easy to bully but they are formidable, their tenacity and energy are high. Add to that their quality on the ball and they are probably the best central midfield in Europe right now.

Class.

Does he remind anyone else of Modric a bit? Same height and build, always buzzing around looking to get the ball and never gives it away, and brilliant ability to up the tempo and carry the ball through midfield with his touch and close control.

I thought he was Portugal's best player in the last Euro also. Sensational CM.

@DannyCAFC . found my old post:
Vitinha played like a no. 8 with Portugal. He played like the type of no. 8 that will elevate the whole team. He's a bit like younger Modric.

...

So good. Passes the ball. Receives the ball back. Beats the press. Retains the ball. Rinse repeat.

Absolutely class player, love watching him play. As others have said, reminds me of Modric, always keeps the ball, dictates the tempo but can do the dirty work as well.

This is what I thought.

Sensational player. The heir to the Modric and Kroos throne at Madrid. His engine, his ball circulation and retention is absolutely sensational.
Either Man City will buy him for silly money or he'll have to do an Mbappe a.k.a run down his contract and survive the wrath of the Qataris because I don't see PSG selling to RM after Madrid tapped up Kylian.

I always think of Xavi when I’m watching him, but Modric is a good shout too. He’s that profile that United have never really had in midfield unfortunately. An aging Scholes probably the closest.

Watching him tonight and seeing the stats Pedri put up as well… :( I had faint hope Kobbie would become one of these types.

Their whole midfield was excellent. The passing reminded me of how Spain used to play. So comfortable on the ball.

Except with a real sense of urgency too. I can't stand PSG, but that was a brilliant watch. This is how I'd want us to play.

Not surprised he's doing well. Another one I picked out years ago as someone that had the ability to excel. Brilliant player and this PSG team are big favourites for the champions league and they've also got the head coach who I wanted as my first choice post Solskjaer. It's also great to see Ousmane Dembele living upto his abilities because as a youngster I was of the opinion he was even more talented than Mbappe.

He's worth all the money

We should pay him all the money

How many years left on his contract?

Vitinha x Valverde x Bellingham.

Reckon Camavinga would fancy conference football with us?

Top top player! He and Joao Neves are a joy to watch in midfield. Neither is a pure 6 or 8...they do both jobs interchangeably

This is the guy I wish Bayern breaks the bank for, if possible. Watching the complete lack of control and lack of any midfield against Madrid was unreal.

So good.

At first he was like a Lego version of Verratti, nowadays he is maturing into a new version of Vitinha, that ain't entirely a Verratti, yet he has become a lot more mature, cautious and intelligent. Two great matches against pool, with different taks and scenarios.

No jinx - I think they can do it this year. They actually looked quite comfortable in both matches.

We have an interesting CL this year with Barca, Madrid, Bayern, and PSG.

No chance. Not the profile and miles away in terms of talent and footballing intelligence.

Yeah he became a different player now. He's great but still too cautious for me at times. He still has room to improve his passing IQ because he can occassionnally be a bit infuriating when he doesn't even try to give the ball to attackers behind the defense line.

Because he's always been historically average for PSG but he has been playing much better this season indeed.

Ruiz is an elite midfielder in the body of a grandfather. He thinks right, moves right, perfectly conveys his coach's instructions, find the right zones but do all of that too slowly to be seriously considered a great player. Never attempting to touch the ball with is head (while being 1,89m) is also pretty silly...

My favourite midfielder to watch and someone I was begging for us to sign years ago. But we never seem to sign these types of players. And then we wonder why we're struggling...
