Television Vikings

Watched the the whole show over the last 6 weeks. It’s epic really loved it

I’d heard before that after Ragnar dies midway it goes south, but I think Ivar in particular is fantastic but also Hrvitsek and Ubbe carried the show brilliantly

Does anyone like the theory that Othere is somehow future Hvitsek?

I just recently finished the show too and liked it. I love my history and this made me go and check the history of England in more depth which was nice.

Got a link to a video or article about the Othere theory?

No but I began to think it when he was baptised as Atelstan in the final episode so I googled and found loads of fan theorys suggesting it was the case.

My god this show jumps the shark doesnt it.

Ivar driving around on his chariot in apparently very wheelchair friendly medieval England

Oh hello, nice of you to join us in the 21st century. But yes, it all gets quite campy towards the end. It was probably a good thing it ended when it did bc I was getting close to hate watching it like it like It did with the Walking Dead. Though that was still way worse.

Yeah bit late to the party. I watched the first 2 seasons when they came out, but stopped after that for some reason.

The plot is steered so obviously in later seasons that they might as well use a narrator.

Also, no Ecbert no party.

I think the show actually got better as it went on, not worse. in opening seasons it was always 15 Viking Iron Men butchering 50 disabled British soldiers. such poor battle scenes are unacceptable in show like this.

and the guy playing Ivar could actually act compared to guy playing Ragnar.

It's not necessarily the acting or setpieces. It's more the "Iver and Ubbe are about to attack Lagertha" Ah look, just now Björn returns from Spain that exact moment. Not to mention half the characters are now meaningless plot devices that make main characters look moronic.

And even Daniel Day Lewis wouldn't be able to pull of riding around in a chariot in medieval English hills and forests.

Didn’t watch that long after Ragnar died. Might’ve seen series 5 but I can’t remember, it definitely tailed off
