Other VIDEOGAME spoilers thread for TLOU Tv show - Enter at your own risk (Contains spoilers for Last of Us Parts 1 & 2 GAMES)

I thought Tommy was going to get that horrible bloater death from the games where he pulls your face apart, as a piece of fan service to the game. I cant remember whether he plays a part in the story going forward or not, so didn't know if they might just kill him off.

You don't remember the sniper fight on the bridge?

He does, he goes to the farm to talk to Ellie and basically sets her off to the final act.

Only vaguely now I've just watched a clip on YouTube. I seem to have a shocking memory of games compared to other media. Other people seem to remember every single bit.

Yeah I'm the same. All I can remember is the Joel thing, going to Seattle as Ellie, hiding in a cinema, fighting Abbey in a cinema, climbing loads of beams as Abbey with Lev, and then the final fight in the shallow water.

Glad you remembered the water was shallow

Forgetting the rat king is impressive!

They gave us that fanservice last season when they revealed that big bloater in episode 5 (I think?)

He ripped off the head of the dude who did Tommy’s part in the game, and it had the sound effect you get when killed in the game as well.

Add in the rat king, killing lots of dogs, the big hotel sequence, those scars guys (can’t remember their actual purpose in the game though just that they were a weird ass cult who gutted people) and that’s about my memory too.

Oh and some flashbacks with Joel and Ellie including a cool spacesuit bit?

I actually tried to replay the second game a while ago but got to Seattle and was like, nah, it’s so fecking depressing, can’t do it. Best game I never want to play again.

Mentioned it in the other thread but I think the supporting characters around Joel/Ellie and Abby were really forgettable and weak in the game, even including Dina and Lev, their main importance was in driving Ellie/Abbie.

They will need to be expanded upon in the show.

Might be time for a replay, best combat and gameplay Naughty Dog has ever done.

The actress playing Dina is brilliant casting.

The change of having Jackson overrun made for incredibly cinematic television. Felt a bit like a late series game of thrones scene.

As expected, bit of a setup episode.

I may be misremembering but didn’t Tommy go ahead of Ellie in the game and wasn’t she aware of it and tracking him? Seems a pretty big departure.

I’ve also forgotten all about the scars and what their spiel is other than they gut people or something.

I also thought the 3 month time jump rather than bothering to deal with the aftermath was a bit weird.

Yes, going after Tommy was their official impetus.

Scars were Palestine place holders.

He does but I don't think she realises until she gets into Seattle and sees some cnuts who've been tortured.

He probably left straight after the meeting in the show.

Scars were pretty fecked and belived in some prophet like figure. They weren't great people and would take your head off with an arrow if you were out the grass too long, but theyve humanised them a bit more in the show. Plot device to get you to hate abbey and WLF really. But also probably so you see her human side a little later on.

The scars/WLF subplot was a pretty horrendous attempt on druksmann's part to do an analouge of the Israeli Palestinan conflict.

Considering what has unfortunately transpired since I'd imagine they're going to considerably rewrite some aspects of it.

Enjoyed that episode and sets it up nicely for the next one. Got to say they have the Dina cast spot on, she’s playing it brilliantly.

First time we seen the Seraphites or scars whatever you want to call them. I’d imagine we will see more of them in the next season when Lev & Yara appear plus a deeper dive episode on their mother’s betrayal which was touched upon in the game. Probably all of that in S3 when they focus on Abi’s story arc.

Nope the plot synopsis for the game says she sets out in pursuit of him. She convinces him to go in the game.

I like Dina but she is distractingly glam for the post apocalypse. Girl has travelled across the country on horseback and has shimmering hair and perfect eye make up. I know it's been Hollywood'ified but come on, scruff people up a bit.

Also, I remember next to nothing about the Seraphites and WLF stuff from the game.

Yeah Tommy is gone basically the next day in the game, no?

My memory is a bit hazy on it, but doesn't it move to a scene at the graveyard with Ellie in the game, which potentially could have been a while afterwards? I can't remember if Tommy had already left by that point though.

interesting takes... me and my son feel like they are changing too much. They have introduced the seraphim too early, and in a poor way. Meeting them as Ellie with the arrow, the whistling and the gutting is infinitely more interesting and suspenseful than what they did. The Tommy/Dina change... not feeling it. No big deal though. Still think this Ellie is too quippy in the wrong way, she's how Dina should be and vice versa. This is an alternate universe TLOU....

Other than that, great stuff....

The 3 month thing doesn't happen in the game, seemed an odd change to me. Then again I guess the mass invasion doesn't either.

The infected attack must have been the whole reason for the time jump.

Would have been way too unrealistic and out of character to have Tommy, one of the town's leaders, leave town immediately after something like that. Now they've shown Jackson having recovered from the attack in the past few months and the community still thriving so now as Tommy got the information about Abby's crew that Dina withheld till Ellie's recovery it's more believable to have him go to Seattle knowing everyone's safe back home.

Thought Ep3 was going to was going end on the horse explosion leading to one of Abbys crew in that group, but I guess not. The scars introduction is too early and would have been a better reveal like the game waiting a little longer.

I've actually no idea what's going to happen next in where the game is by this point. That army march in the end wasn't in the game.

I suspect we are going to be pitched straight into a major scar/WLF skirmish if not the main battle, much quicker than in the game. In the game there was a lot of slow intro to the scars through "the prophet" first...then showing how far the scars had veered from that path.

The game is one of my fav games to have played but I remember so little from it outside of key moments.
Maybe I'm just getting old

Why do things have to have been in the game?

I don’t remember Gina being such a know-it-all in the games.

The show also lacks that somber vibe that the game had after Joel’s death.

The three months allows them time to 'flash back' with Abby and her crew I bet and give writers wiggle room to flesh the story out from the other perspective.
