Luton Town 1:2 Man Utd
Not quite as bad at left back at last time... But he's still not a left back.

Was reliable defensively today, but totally nonexistent attacking wise. LB is not his role, like it or not

Is he quite possibly the worst to play LB at United in recent history? He has no qualities to play that position. He's not good one on one. He's very slow. He lacks any semblance of agility. He doesn't have a left foot. He's not good at passing the ball in tight areas. His like a mobile cone out there. At least as a centre back he has positional awareness and knows how to play the role.

You had me up til that last bit

I was thinking yesterday that if you popped Onana into LB and Lindelof into nets, would we notice any difference?

Hehe, we would probably improve playing out from the back at the left back position?

Onana isn't that bad, btw

How Lindelöf is still at the club truly baffles me. It was surely recognized after one or two seasons that he was never good enough to be a regular at the team. Most centre backs have some redeeming attributes. Maguire is terribly slow, but he is very strong in the air, for instance. Smalling was poor on the ball, but he was great defending one on one, strong in the air and very fast. Blind was great on the ball... Lindelöf has nothing... he's average or mostly below average at everything.

He’s not a LB, he is a CB. He’s only playing there because his better suited team mates are made of glass and all broken. Don’t think the other CBs like Maguire, Evans, Varane etc would do a much better job as full backs.

In fairness no, he’s not a LB

nor a CB

im not sure what he is, some kind of sweeper or deep lying holding player

No Not a LB at all, doesn’t have any of those qualities needed, nor do the other CBs. But enough to cover when 3-4 better options are injured. As I wrote elsewhere, we have won all matches when he played LB except against city so it hasn’t cost us anything and therefore I guess it makes sense to ETH to play him there when all our left footed glass players are broken again.

The thought of him as LB until AWB returns makes me sad

I think there's been a slight over-reaction to a half match fit Lindelof being lumped on at HT v Bailey in flying form.

He was fine v Luton in the same situation and likely wont be a disastrous stop gap, it's just a bit of a nightmare going forward.

Man Utd 1:2 Fulham
Forget his typically weak defending for the goal. His role in that last 25 mins with Utd chasing the game was absurd, coming inside into midfield, cluttering the space for Bruno, Eriksen, Mainoo and McT, just ridiculous use of resources by Ten Hag.

We didn't learn anything we didn't know about Lindelof today. However, it does not make what we saw any less frustrating. Another bluffer who has been given far too much rope by the incompetent people who run this club.

Can we please stop this experiment with him at left back? Stick Dalot there, we must have a better option. Didn't defend well, got in the way of Garnacho crosses at least twice. Aside from a half decent work rate, he brings nothing to the team.

Lets just not talk about him anymore. Make sure, he gets lost at some bus stop and then never speak about him anymore. He is becoming one of the posterboys for our organisation wide failure

Can't play at LB at all but the curse of United means even our makeshift LB ends up injured

Not his fault he's put in this position - anyone will tell you he isn't and will never the a fullback let along a left back. I don't get it. He's literally being put there to fail.

Feel sorry for him actually.

He is a boring footballer who is not even that good. Should be the first to go but he will stay and stink the place again next season.

That half hearted jump towards thin air is basically Lindelof's career in a nutshell when it comes to conceded goals. Almost always not 'directly' at fault for a mistake (i.e Rashford/Varane should have done better) but he is constantly always involved without doing any meaningful to affect play.

Yes I can forgive his positioning because he's not a left back but he's such a thoroughly bad player even with that caveat. 1 decent pass in the first half and then pretty much 500 square or back passes, constantly under or overlapping Garnacho and the midfield area getting in the way of everybody, whilst contributing zilch.

Even his biggest fans can no longer say 'him playing didn't affect our results' after today

Playing him full back is merely a desperation situation, but do we have to play him left back? Just makes an already awkward situation harder.

Probably better off playing Amrabat there to at least have some passing ability.

Please let Wan Bissaka back when we face Salah and Saka.

Yes, just a useless defender who triples the workload for whomever has to play with him. I just can't accept the tactical instructions from Ten Hag though, he was popping up in attacking midfield roles, just getting in the way, may as well just have put Amrabat into that role, at least he is more comfortable on the ball.

Football is such a fad lead sport, Pep popularizes full backs going into midfield, everyone has to do it, even the full backs who aren't suitable for it. Why the feck are Lindelof and Dalot pushing into the space that Mainoo should be in, meaning him forced into an absurdly advanced role feeding on scraps. How that can that possibly be seen as effective use of the players you have?

Why LB? He was actually a RB before becoming a CB. So why don't ETH player him there?

Hilarious watching this guy.

Not a left back, not a center back, not a right back. 7 years he's been here?

Can’t think of a more inappropriate nickname than The Iceman. He’s as cowardly as they come. Under Ole, I thought that the CB partnership of Maguire and Lindelof passing to each other was the worst thing I’ll ever see. Now we have Maguire CB and Lindelof LB doing the same thing. What have we done to deserve this?!
