VERON INTENDS TO STAY WITH UNITED
by Stuart James
JUAN SEBASTIAN VERON says he has not even contemplated leaving Manchester United, despite reports to the contrary, and he intends to see out his five-year deal with The Red Devils.
Speculation has been rife that the Argentinean international wants to quit Old Trafford in the summer and return to Lazio, from whom he joined United in a £28.1 million deal at the start of the season.
However, Veron says he is 'very, very happy' in Manchester and intends to stay with the Premiership champions.
"I am satisfied with what I have done so far but I know I have a lot more in myself to give and that's what I am trying to do," he toild the Manchester Evening News.
"I am very happy at Manchester United. The thought of leaving has never entered my head. I want to clear that up right away.
"I will be redoubling my efforts to make a big impact for the rest of the season. I hope the Manchester United fans will get more of a chance to see the type of things I did in Italy over the next weeks and months."
Veron's form has dipped over the past few months despite United's recent upsurge in form that has seen them return to the top of the Premiership table, but the 26-year-old former Sampdoria and Parma ace puts that down with him taking time to come to terms with the English way of life.
"It has taken me longer to adapt to English football than I expected and longer than when I moved to Italy from Argentina," he added.
"It has been a huge change this time, not only from a footballing point of view but generally in life.
"Football-wise, the training and style of play are different to Serie A. There are lots of things you have to adapt to. But I knew that before I came so it is no surprise and that's what I wanted to experience.
"As a player you grow in stature with the different types of experiences you have in football. Italy helped me a lot as is England now. I will become a better player for being over here.
"I have every intention of completing my five-year contract here at Manchester United. I'm very, very happy."

More than likely the Italian press are putting words in the players mouth in an attempt to undermine his being a United player and possibly come back to Lazio.
