according to a user on another forum - some of you may know him. kevthered. dont know if I can mention the forum itself though - whats the policy on that?

He is pretty accurate and reliable, Ruddy knows him I reckon.

Says Veron is almost definitely on the way out.

Also hints that one of these Frenchmen is on the way out. If its Silvestre we're gonna need alot of patching up at the back. PLEASE dont swap him for Thuram! Thuram is over rated.

Barthez has been said to be staying plenty of times, by the club by himself. Silvestre on the other hand has not, quite the opposite.

I thought I'd share this guys knowledge with you lot since we have no one here who gets this insider news - or do we?

Red Issue. Here, I broke the policy if one exist. This isn't Nazi Germany ya know :)

Anyhow, time will tell. I think he was quite accurate last summer but I can't fully remember. He also claimed lately Ferdinand was pretty much a done deal and that Silvestre would be offered a new 3-year contract.

Ban him!

I was just being fair to the managers of this forum who may get annoyed that all their hard work is tainted with mentions of another rival forum.

OK so I guess Barthez is leaving??

Guess I like the guy cos he says Rio is coming and thats something I want to believe. He told us all about Veron didnt he?

On the other hand ;)

Realistically, all he's told is things we keep hearing about anyway. Ferdinand, Barthez, Veron and Silvestre were all things reported by the media at one stage of another, most of them awfully recent.

We're around 3 weeks from the start of trainings, we haven't made any signings and people are talking about big restructuring, especially of the backline. Personally, I don't see it. If Fergie was set for huge overhaul he'd surely want to to make sure everyone was in place for early July, not say 'we'll do something after the WC'.

So, without any inside information, I don't think Barthez is leaving. If any French is going it's Silvestre, contract & stuff.

he told me about the rio thing about 2-3 weeks before the world cup

trust me he knows his stuff

With everyone holding fire with Transfers (except Liverpool) it's about to hot up

I reckon Veron & Nesta will go in a straight swap And them we'll blow the money on Rio Ferdinand

If we get rid of Mickey then bring in Bridge

We shall see than shalln't we?

After the World Cup might mean Friday for England.

I hope not though.

I meant he revealed Veron would be coming last Summer before the papers etc. I think he did.

RUDDY - keep pestering him about Portillo eh? Throw Ronaldo in also, I expect a big star if Veron's sold.

Good, in that case, that bit of nonsence can get up and walk away from us alone without needing any help

Ok then lets go for it!!

I dont think Owen can play in a team that doesnt play counter attack (he has been poor for England), its Liverpools crap coaching. I know you was joking but had to throw that in there...

If Veron's sold the money will definately be spent on a giant of a defender. Nesta or Ferdinand I suppose (Still don't see Leeds letting him go, donno why I keep mentioning this!).

As for Veron last year, we have talks with his agents as early as May and it was always clear that as soon as he was cleared from the passport case (if) we'll be back.

I doubt whether even Fergie or Kenyon know who is leaving and who is arriving. There are other factors which will decide our transfers, such as who would buy Seba, Barthez etc and who would sell us the player we've been linked with. That's alot of IFs if you ask me. ;)

His current position seems to be that barthez is being replaced with Rustu Recber, and that Silvestre may possibly be replaced. Also Finnan might come but it is early days, however every United player put him as their player of the season apparently. Here's his bet on line-up next season:
don't bet a brass farthing on this (though it would be nice)

Rustu

Finnan Blanc Ferdinand Tweety

Beckham Scholes Keane Giggs

Rvn Rivaldo

or

Rustu

Finnan Blanc Ferdinand Escude

Beckham Scholes Butt Duff

Kluivert Giggs

It seems even he doesn't know much for certain.

................... Rustu .......................

Neville ..... Blanc ...... Ferdinand ... Silvestre

Beckham ..... Keane ...... Scholes ........ Giggs

I want one who can do neat tricks and will be constantly defended by certain French forum members. ;)

But is the Mexican goalie available ?

Rivaldo? Kluivert?

No way imo.

Anyway, I think one of the major reasons why nowts 'announced' until the WC is over is so any player that is going to or from OT isn't bothered with a press barrage regarding it thus avoiding distracting them from the NT job in hand.

I think a few deals have been done bar medicals etc but nothing will be finalised until the player/s come home.

I can't see Rio coming, although I'd love if he did, because Ridsdale has said that he is building the team around him blah blah blah, it'd be a bit daft to say that then three weeks later sell him.

Mind you, it is Leeds. ;)

Very much true, but things are starting to move now. Only 8 teams are left in the tournament, and I can't really see us signings players from Spain, South Korea, Senegal... So our targets, who ever they are, should now be available for talks... most of them anyway.

For what its worth here's my bet:
Recber in for 8m
Ayala in for 10m
Rio in for 25-30m
Escude/Bridge in for £5-8
Finnan in for 8m
Some small fry for 5m
Total = 61m - 69m

Veron hopefully out for 25-30m
Silvestre out for 5m
Yorke out for 4m
Fortune out for 4m
Barthez out for 5m
Total = 43m - 48m
Diff = 18m - 21m

That's 2 midfielders and an attacker out, and non in, I can't see that happening

You missed my edit! That'll teach you for being so quick to criticise.

First I wasnt criticising I was just saying my opinion.

And assuming that small fry is an attacker, with fortune and veron out we don't have enough cover in midfield.

And if it's a midfielder, we are left with 3 strikers when IMO we need 4.

I agree with the rest 'cept for replacing Barthez and I don't think we'll get 2 new fullbacks

I don't see us getting a new back 4 and a new goalkeeper. Thats ridiculous. We have Neville, we have Blanc, who will probably be the basis for next season's defence, and no matter what kevthered dreams of, so will Fabien Barthez.

The rest is opened for discussion...

We need a CB to replace Ronny and a keeper to replace the inconsistent clown. Can't see us going after the likes of Finnan with Gary still around. Silvestre will stay as well (I think).

How can a keeper replace Veron?

I'm talking about the origianl clown. The one who called for a Taxi when he was one on one with Dicanio last year. ;)

Well he did say when he arrived that sometimes he likes to stroll on the pitch like he's going for a walk or something.

He wanted to drive around this time :D

And he also did say that he loves being an entertainer, and that football would be meaningless to him if he couldn't entertain. I say let him dazzle the masses back in the French league. ;)

I can guarantee you that we won't be signing all of them:

Rustu - Unlikely, Fab will be our goalie next season
Finnan - Unlikely, no real improvement on Gary Neville
Ferdinand - Yes, likely
Rivaldo - Very unlikely
