That's a bit funny - yes.

My first round pick was - at the point when I sent it to you - 1. Platini, 2. Garrincha, 3. Scirea, 4. Neeskens.

But the "gamble" part mainly refers to him being unsuitable to a couple of the formations here.

As in - if I get formation X for the first round, Garrincha will be very hard to fit in (as a plausible GOAT level player).

Anatoliy Demyanenko

The formations allowed in this draft (diamond, 433, 4231 & 532) will demand more tactical influence and importance for the wingbacks/fullbacks. In terms of one-man flanks, Anatoliy Demyanenko is one of the greatest I've ever seen. Demyanenko's endless stamina on the wing, leadership, positional intelligence and all-round technical ability will be fully utilised here. I can see him picking up a great relationship with Stoichkov on the left too - overlapping runs, covering and cutting in.

This man is fit in any formations in this draft (diamond, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or back5). His no nonsense style of defending will match with Passarella's best attributes. He could excel in back3 too, especially covering full-back role in back 5 which he did superbly for Briegel in World Cup 1982 . His strengths were tackling abilities( both standing and sliding), positioning, aerial ability and concentration, a stopper without any significant weakness ( except upper body strength).

He's Klopp's idol too.

Its tricky. I passed up some of my usual favourites and decided on the full backs that could perform in any of the formations given. We’ll see how it plays out with the rest of the picks and see if that was a mistake :lol:
