If he isn’t an upgrade on either of the guys we have, I doubt we buy him. Unless Dalot is leaving. But EtH may think Vanderson is an upgrade and I would trust his judgement.
Frimpong is better and would probably be cheaper knowing how much French clubs like to charge.
The boat has sailed for Mazaroui. Would have welcomed him last summer on free. We had weathered the storm, and now it's time for the next step. Mazraoui is not that attacking, nor he's a clear upgrade on either AWB and Dalot.
I don't know where you get this impression about French clubs overprice their players and not German clubs. For every Ndombele, Pepe we had Werner, Sancho, Naby Keita from German clubs. Tchouameni, Mbappe, Martial with hindsight looks like pound for pound the correct value. French clubs let Kante, Muani, Coman, Nkunku, Konate, Camavinga, O.Dembele... went to other other leagues cheaply.
You're looking Leverkusen who rinsed Chelsea for Kai Harvetz sale. So the question is all about whether the player is worth the fee. Fringing looks to be more of a wingback than full back. Not sure Fringpong fit the profile we're looking for our RB position.
Well both our full backs have some big flaws and neither have really nailed on beign worthy as a whole despite some good performances this season to be in a quality starting eleven, where as the other three positions in defence, players have done so.
Not that I fall into this category, but a lot of modern fans and clubs like an attacking full back and all the traits that entail.....in that respect though I havent seen a huge amount of him and though in all honesty it isnt that difficult in my opnion, he offers a massive upgrade in that respect....but he still looks quite raw defensively. I havent really seen Frimpong but the three full backs I have really liked the look of are all quite raw, Livaramento, Gusto and Vanderson is the other one.
I think we have two good second choice right backs, so one of the two should go and we should be looking at an attacking full back. I think if the fee is reasonable Vanderson is a really goog option for a few reasons, he would certainly be exciting....maybe frustrating too
I feel most league, the big players go for big fees and there have been some to this leauge and some not as big a players as the hype anyway.....and a lot of them ahve failed, so can see how the other poster holds that opinion.
But I agree with you, though the league itself is behind the other major leagues, its stacked with young talent, just look at the national sides of all age groups. And going a lon gway back up to recent windows, there have been some great deals from the French league at cheap prices.
I actually think the premiership doesnt look to the French league as much as it should, especially in terms of taking gambles on cheaper deals that are still out there

He had already signed an agreement with Bayern before ETH was appointed, so we could not have signed him. If you think he's not that attacking then you didn't see alot of Ajax before he left

What is that attacking for you? Shaw, Reece James, TAA, Cancelo, Zinchenko...?
Yeah. The slight quandary is that AWB is better defensively and so would provide the best tactical alternative to a very attacking RB but Dalot is the more flexible, intelligent player, able to deputise reasonably at LB.

There might be a tongue in cheek element to this post but character references certainly used to be common practice when signing a player. I'm pretty sure a lot of the top clubs even go through a player's tweet history before they sign them so they aren't in for any surprises if something surfaces online.
I would imagine (or at least hope) we still are, even if it's a rudimentary version of it.

Come to think of it. Have we ever had a really successful Brazilian player? Anderson was decent but nothing amazing, Rafael was too. Fabio, Fred were meh. Anthony is on the way to being meh aswel.
Casemiro, started off world class but not sure what to make of him now in a United shirt.
I think our experience of Brazilians forces us to block out the fact that Uncle Case is Brazilian!

Still think it was a mistake keeping both Dalot and Bissaka, both have flaws. I dont think its wrong to label one a defensive right back and the other an attacking one if really generalising.
And for me that is one of the msitakes Ten Hag has done so far, giving Dalot a new contract. My impression was he was thinkng of selling Bissaka but his form changed his mind.

Dalot is not an 'offensive right back’ at all. That was just a label he had earned a while back by virtue of him being terrible defensively at the time. In reality, Wan Bissaka is also better than him going forward.
