Van Nistlerooy to Real?

Didn't Real actually release him for nothing when he had six months to go on his contract, a year ago?

Demanding HSV to do the same is stupid, they shouldn't have let him go in the first place. Besides they cannot expect a club who may still make Europe to give up their best goalscorer just because Real Madrid say so.

The Spanish press think Madrid have offered 2m + a friendly match. Hamburg don't need the money. Both teams need the player. It's an interesting negotiation.

I'm sure City would let Jo go for nothing - there's a player Hamburg might could replace Ruud with.

Or perhaps Real could go for Adebayor, assuming Mourinho rates him.

MADRID (AP) — Ruud van Nistelrooy says he will leave Hamburg at the end of the season because the Bundesliga club blocked his transfer to Real Madrid.

The Netherlands striker says "I'll go to another club" after Hamburg denied him a "romantic" return to Spain and a chance to work with Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.

The 34-year-old Van Nistelrooy played three seasons in Madrid, winning two league titles. He says in Wednesday's Marca newspaper that Madrid offered Hamburg —2 million ($2.75 million) plus a friendly match, but the German club told him they "couldn't sell me, they need me."

With Van Nistelrooy unavailable, Madrid instead signed Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City on loan until June.

Why has he been such a cock here? Love the guy but what a tool.

Why should Hamburg just release him because he said so?

Some would say he is being ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

You can see Ruud's thinking but to throw a strop like this is a bit embarassing really, he's much better than that.

Ruuds thinking? He's an integral part of Hamburg and from all accounts Madrid expected them to hand him over without receiving any money.

Also, didn't he say that he didn't feel any emotional bond to Real Madrid? That they ran more like a business more than a club? So much for romance.

Can't really see much difference between the way Ruud's acting, and the way that Rooney held the club to ransom over his wage rise.

What do unfounded assertions about Rooney have to do with van Nistelrooy?
