Obviously there's not a huge golf following on the caf...
But the US Open is upon us! This tournament is renowned for being a very good test of your all round game and threatening to bite yo face off if you so much as think about not hitting the ball dead on line.
The First round is in progress, and I've just witnessed an albatross by Nick Watney to catapult him to level par!
Who is the man to beat? Tiger. Tiger is looking back to his best in terms of long game for me. Whilst his putting will probably never quite go back to being 'ridiculously formidable', where he holed 15 footers for fun on the back nine, to beat his playing partners into submission, he does look soild.
Also, that punched 7 iron today was just delightful, he has very good control of his irons and seems to be able to keep it in play right now. There's no looking past Tiger, he is going to win number 15 this week.
However if we do look past him for one moment, because golf is a funny old game, Michael Thompson is leading on 4 under par, a very impressive round, but I don't see him challenging come Sunday. The two others who I see contending, are Rickie Fowler, who is becoming a lot more consistent and has proved that he has the winning mentality, since his win at Quail Hollow a few weeks ago. Also, the man in form, Jason Dufner.
It will be an interesting watch, but I'd be very surprised if anything but a Tiger win occurs. Even if some people still claim that Nicklaus was a better player than Tiger, I think Woods is the undisputed 'most consistent golfer of all time'. His stats are ridiculous. Come on sir, show them who's boss!
