Because I'd like to see them play together in a 4-4-2. Ole can always come on later.

The result is meanigless.

Unles we lose by 3 goals ;)

OK provided Diego plays upfront with Ruud and not behind him, which would be his natural tendency. Ruud looks like a lost soul at the moment when he's on his own.

What you're saying then Weastie is that you can play your heart out in one game, score a goal, and outshine - on that occasion - the "main" striker, and still be on the bench. In which case the only incentive you have to do well is for personal pride as it sure as hell doesn't get you anything else.

hasn't he been best at it though?

SAF has non-stop praise for him.. the whole world has non-stop praise for the lad.. i think he does a better job coming off the bench than working hard for 90 minutes.. because when he comes on, say, in the 70th minute, the confidence rises. The fans get behind Ole to score, the players get behind Ole to score..

We have to face the facts. Best Ole can be for us is a super sub.. i think we need a new partner for Ruud and keep Ole on the bench. He's really good at it, no one can match him at that.

RUnited, you are so knowledgeable about football. So please answer me a few questions.

How come about 83 of Ole's 105 goals have been from the start.

How come he made the Opta team of the season last year. (RVN didn't)

Other points.

Ruud and Ole scored 61 goals last season. Higher than any pairing in Europe. Higher than any United pairing since the 60s.

I look forward to you incredible insight and vastly superior knowledge.

But if Solskjaer wants to end his career being known as only a sub, then it's down to him. Personally I would show a bit more self-respect.

Sheeeeesh! It was a non-event of a game Livvie, they were never going to beat us by the required score to knock us of the top spot, so I just though that it might be interesting to have a look at Ruud and Diego play together. Is that a crime?

Course not. That wasn't the point I was making.

I'd have preferred to see Ruud and Diego rather than Ruud and no-one myself.

I'd have felt the same if it had been Scholes because he also played well on Sat.

And about Roy Carroll who seems to have been demoted fopr no good reason. Or any player who deserves better.

I'm hot on loyalty - I'd be a lousy manager.

I disagree, loyalty is important.

Women make the best managers you know. Men don't have the best of communication skills. And, hell have no fury like a woman scorned.

I bet that if you were our manager last Saturday, more than just teacups woulñd have been flying around that dressing room.

It's not the loyalty aspect so much as the man-management.

If Fergie's didn't think Ole was right for the game or whatever, that's fine.

What isn't fine is that Ole was then lumped in with the "players being punished for abysmal showing against Manchester City" as one paper put it.

As a manager I would have made sure that a player who had played well was at least exonerated from that.

hold your sarcasm my dear livvie..

i'm not arguing football tactics and i never i said knew more about football than you, i respected your comments but i happened to see it the other way aroudn.. hear me out.. please..

my point was that he always inspires us coming off the bench.. no one can do it like he does.. everytime he takes off his jumpsuit and gets ready for a match that we are trailing i feel that sense of rush i do not get from any other player.. i'm sure a lot of our fans, including you, feel the same.

he's come on for Veron so many times this season to some successful displays.. his scoring rate has decreased visibly, but i still get the sense of security every time he comes on..

all i'm saying is he has the ability to turn the game.. if he was already in the starting line up and we were trailin 1-0 going into the 70th minute i'd be worried that we have no one on the bench able to do jobs as good as him..

i understand about the self-respect, but i have to say Ole has nothing to worry about.. so shouldn't you.. he's valued by all our fans.. we love him, we want to keep him.. he's even among the few players all the posters in the forum want to keep beyond this season.

this alone should be enough to provide him that sense of achievement.. he's never been underrated.. or overrated by anyone.. he's as good as we all think he is.. i love to see him on the bench because i know he'll score tonight, and if we ever trail our opponents, he'll save the day..

honestly, the things he does on the field in the last 20 minutes of each game reminds me of Cantona and his heroic displays.. that's all i wanted to say.. :)

The point is though, he doesn't. He might be the best we have at coming off the bench, but he doesn't actually score that often. Not nearly as much as people seem to think.
