Last night we were.......MAGNIFICENT, IMMENCE, AWESOME, SUPERB, HISTORY MAKING, LETHAL. have i missed anything out? Boavista didn't know what hit them. All of europe must be wondering how they can stop us. ;)

Except......... Liverpool's result completely overshadowed ours in the media. You'd think they'd won the CL by the reaction today.

Their result was excellent, yet scouse fans would be the first to criticise United for qualifying with a single win.

Sad thing is, I think they are gonna win the bastard. :(

What?!? win the european cup? you mad?!

.....although......Bayern won it in a similar style to the way the bindippers play so I guess it's possible if highly laughable <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> ....... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Sorry, but I've had these nasty visions of Hyypia holding the CL trophy up and scousers celebrating and goading us for years. It's a truly frightening and horrible possibility. It's bad enough that they're gonna sneak through and win the league....... I'll get my hat.

Anyone who supported United through the 70s and 80s will be able to live with Liverpool having a bit of success this season, we had to live with it back then. If they do win anything, i'll be the first to say "well done", no matter how much it hurts.

that's very magnanimous of you. :D

d'you think it's all set up for us and you lot meeting in the final?

What on earth does it say about the state of European football if, god forbid, Liverpool manage to flook another European trophy ?

Don't get me wrong, I remember the 80's and could appreciate they were the best team of that era.

It's just the last 12 years have truly spoilt me with too much success.

I guess I should just reflect upon Fergie's 2nd or 3rd full season in charge (87-88)/(88-89) when we only just finished in the top half of the table (11th I think). A big dissapointment considering we'd re-signed sparky that year and finished 2nd in his 1st full season.

I used to have the season review of that year. Wish I still did for contrast. Great goal from Hughsie in a 2-2 against Spurs.

Bring on the scousers , the Gooners, Real, whoever and we'll sort them out in the quarters. With our 1999 pedigree we shouldn't be concerned about anyone least of all the upstarts from merseyside. Time for United to take the step to true greatness.

Agreed! If we are to be rated as a tuly great team, there can be no better way of proving it than winning either PL or Cl this season after our awful start.

It's all about fight and will to win. We know from the past that the shirts have got shed loads of desire and bottle.

feck it, bring on the lot of them. If we win nothing then let's go down fighting like mad men <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

I tell you it's a very good job you have that pedigree from 3 years ago, I don't think you'd have any chance but for that!

I expect Sheringham, Stam, Yorke, Cole, Schmeical to come to the fore once again.....

;)

I've got the video from 87/88 somewhere; Jesper Olsen was our Ryan Giggs and Brian McClair our Ruud van Nistelrooy that season ;)

And we had Jim (Roy Carrol) Leighton in goal, and striking sensation Peter Davenport.

No, but I expect

van Nistelrooy (you know that striker who is top goalscorer in the League AND the CL)

Solskjaer (you know that striker who is the most efficient in the CL)

Blanc (you know that centrehalf who's been terrific this season, and has scored as many CL goals as Heskey)

Keano (you know that midfielder who's been simply terrific for the last 4 seasons)

Beckham (you know that midfielder who's scored 15 goals this season)

and last, but not least

Giggs (as good as any attacking midfielder in Europe)

to come to the fore

;)

Why would Man United bring in more advertising revenue and merchandising?

Doesn't Liverpool's dullness appeal to the general public?

A young Steve Bruce making his way to OT during the campaign

What a signing that was!

;)

Isn't Boavista a decent side? That's the impression I got from Liverpool supporters early on in the season..

They're not bad..

They're not top quality tho..

Clearly, or you wouldn't have beaten them..

;)

The current European champions failed to beat us at 2 attempts. Does that make us MAGNIFICENT?

yeah, they're not bad.

but last night they were already eliminated from the competition so it really amounted to a moot friendly match.....

Oh, I see <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

What about our home game Vs them?

Nice one

You know your team struggles against the best when you try to make a case for a team from Portugal....

;)

Not trying to make a case for anyone, just found it strange that they've gone from being a very good team to not a decent one..

They're as they always have been...a good team, not amongst the best in Europe..

Well, we have had 8 draws this season out of 46
Liverpoo..........15 draws..
Interesting stat that eh?

Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool...</strong><hr></blockquote>

Only three teams?

Seeing as we're top of the League one of them belong to, and have drawn twice with another one, there must be a case for Man United being one of the best teams in Europe as well..?

Now do the same for defeats... ;)

Don't you know which teams are decent and which aren't?
