Heads must roll. It's time for Fergie to get ruthless and kick out the Rolex boys and replace them with players who have hunger and fight.

I quite agree - after all, they should have beaten the Hungarians easily, and we shouldn't give any credit whatsoever to the opposition, who are far more inferior, and were just lucky. On top of that we've been crap all season.

(Please note the smileys those of you who might take me seriously).

Optamistic one bad defensive error and we could be out but on the other hand if we are 3-0 up not to bad time will tell

We're back to saying the same things as last season.
How fecking sad !

it's not just about getting through to the group stage. If this is the squad we're gonna have, we might as well concentrate on the league.
True that they only had two shots on target, but if Forlan is what we can bring in to change the course of a game, do we really want to face Real and their likes?

"daddymac"???? What year are you living in--1990?

We certainly looked very poor today - especially the midfield...
Keane had a poor poor game by his standards.
Veron also had a poor game kept giving the ball away
Beckham - can't remember any good crosses from him, definitely seen him play alot better
Giggs - where was he? this isn't the Giggs of old.

Maybe it was the pitch, but come OT in 2 weeks we have a hard task. Though i do think we will win them. as we will have 2 games under our belt. They might not sit back & defend as not to invite pressure - who knows? But i do think we will play ALOT better at OT. Rio will be back, we'll be more fitter, and the pitch is better!!

I admire the people on here who seem to be very optimistic and are joking around a bit. I for one can not remain so cool, I am worried although I still expect us to go through BUT the possibility of us playing UEFA Cup football is now closer than before... Where does all this confidence of some of you guys come from? The last time we were so confident of getting a result, we got disappointed by Bayer, TWICE. Okay, ZTE is not exactly Bayer Leverkusen, but if we can lose today in such a hapless manner(we didn't look like scoring at all), we can also lose at OT. One fluke goal, one bad refereeing decision and they've got their away goal: we then need to score THREE against a 10 men wall (and we're not good at breaking down 10 men walls). I'm nervous, and I can't wait to get my answer in 2 weeks time.

Which brings up the question of our defense again or in this case defensive back-up. Does anyone here actually has more than a modicum of trust in Phil Neville? I had serious doubts about his ability and last night further compounded those doubts.

We really need to bring in more defensive reinforcements.

Agreed - let's not gee ourselves up too much and take one match at a time. Focus on our next match with WBA first and then when we meet them again in a fortnight, unload our rounds on the hungarians.

And I think they'll come back with a 3-0 in the home leg.

Phil Neville was supposed to mark the winger/striker at the flank. I bet he didn't even know that the opponent was there in the first place.

What a fecking shambles last night was, fecking pathetic. We should be beating sides like that with 3 or 4 clear goals at least! Has to go down as one of the worst results in Fergie's term at united. I can’t believe some of you have the nerve defend yesterday’s performance! It seems you can’t criticise United without being branded a “wanker” or “glory hunter” etc.!!!!
fecking Veron left off from last season, he was truly awful! The defence (the full backs in particular) looked dodgy, and to top it all off there was Brown’s injury……..
Judging by yesterday’s performance not much has changed from last season
Although we'll probably role them up fairly easily at OT, I still think performances like that are unacceptable by such highly paid "stars"

Ssssh! Some of the regulars here will lynch you if you dare utter a word against the team. Being called a gloryhunter or a wanker is just about the nicest thing they can do to you.

Calm down for fecks sake. It's only half time in this tie and our first competitive game this season. Excellent run out before the weekend.

Take that into the equation when you start whinging retard.

Over & above, Giggs played a 'bumer' - he seemed overweight & overdid his dribbling time & again. & his crossing was his standard fare - unable to get past the first defender!

Ruud & Ole left their shooting boots at home & will someone teach Ruud the off-side rules? He was the EPL's worst off-side offender last season & yesterday, it seemed he wants to overhaul last season's record in record time!

And why does United persist in Becks taking all the free-kicks & corners? No variation, & very telegraphic, so the opposition is well prepared to cope with them! ( United have Giggs, Veron, Ole & Scholes who have shown they can be equally effective! )

And the pattern of play last night was symptomatic of United's play last season - they allowed the opposition ample room to spray their passes effectively & accurately by not closing down hard on the ball-passers.

Yet when we saw United getting the ball, the Zalaegerszegi players were immediately onto the United player with the ball, giving him no time to dwell & weigh his best passing option.

Plus whenever a United player got the ball, there wasn't another teammate within 15 yards, or any off-the-ball running so the player was often caught in possession or delivered a loose ball when 2 opponents closed down on him!

The defence did OK bar Phil, ( simply because Zalaegerszegi's attack was virtually non-existent? ) who was M.I.A. at right-back so much so that we saw Becks in that position so often & should be shot dead for such a naive piece of defending & letting the winger through unchallenged & with so much room & time to lay the winning pass! ( But didn't Tweety & O'Shea do well last night! )

United now have an uphill task & must win by 2 goals without conceding at OT. Are we going to see 'Rotor Volgograd' all over again?

An excellent runaround more like...

The Manc charge for the treble suffers early teething problems..

I wouldn't put that down as an excellent run out, more a "wake up cos your about to get sold". Its only have time and we "should" demolish them at OT and I have no doubt that we will but we also should have hammered them last night! So, its back to last season after all the talk all the hype. With this squad we wont be strong enough to win the CL (I've said it before and I'll say it again) Where was Blanc for the goal?? JOS was the only CB anywhere near the action and he's meant to be learning from Larry, I just hope he's a crap student ;)

The ref was pathetic last night. Their right back fouled Giggsy 23 times and didn't get a booking!
They pulled shirts and used elbows at every corner without any comebacks.
SAF must have known they would be a physical side?
So why leave Buttie and Scholsey out? We should have kicked the shit out of them.
And taking Ole off for fairy was a huge miscalculation.
IMHO of course but what the feck do I know?

Ah the Blanc lovers here will jump on you for that remark.

World Cup winner and all that whereas O'Shea is just a wet-behind-the-years youngster.

There is no comparison between the two ;)

Yeah, they're probably very pissed of because they didn't get the value for the money  . That's what it is about, being entertained eh?

No, its only because you are a "real" supporter and you want to be part of the family. The result and performance wont matter to them at all. Especially with Hungary being such a party country.
Im quite sure all who travelled will be feeling really chuffed this morning!

Ahmed, why did you start supporting United? Was it because they were entertaining and you know you'd be entertained more times than not. Or did you just like the colour of their shirts  The fans travel to the matches to support their team, win lose or draw but at the very least they expect to be entertained or to see their team put up a fight

No shit retard, I was being sarcastic. But you were probably in such a fecking hurry to lecture me and get the OTT trumph card out that you forgot to think before you wrote your fecking answer. It's tragic when the fingers work faster than the brain.
