United States-led 2026 World Cup bid in jeopardy to Morocco's

US hosted in 94, Mexico have hosted it twice already... hardly an awful choice and I'm sure they'll be good hosts but Morocco would have been a lot more special

Also, South Africa in 2010, Brazil in 2014, Russia 2018, Qatar 2022 and North America in 2026. It's ridiculous how far away all of these are from western european countries, I live in Portugal and if 2030 goes to Argentina and Uruguay it will be nearly 30 years without a World Cup less than 6000 kms away :wenger:

the 48 team thing certainly makes it difficult for any single country to host, combined bids will probably be the norm from now on - the North American bid is likely to win for this reason, perhaps a combined North African bid might be one for the future.

It's a similar number of games to now though due to the new 3 teams per group format, i think. Still USA and Canada are huge on their own. It doesn't seem like a good idea giving the next Euros to all of Europe and this will be over an even bigger area.

USA getting 2 World Cups before we get another ffs. Imagine fans trying to travel between 3 different countries.

Maybe in 2030 we'll apply and hopefully England is not as hated as it has been by FIFA. It might sound like entitlement but England has the world's most viewed league, the stadia to host the tournament, successfully hosted an Olympics game with a relatively decent legacy, hosting a number of Euro 2020 games.

Why not give one to Scandinavia, FIFA have awarded world cups on their choosing before, without bids being submitted. Just pick and choose a country who never held it or held it many decades ago. I am so sad at this.

A World Cup split between three massive countries doesn't make much sense to me.

Might as well have the EU countries making one joint bid next time.

I've never been to a WC, will certainly go catch some games at this one. Sounds good to me.

There is already a combined bid from Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay and there is a decent chance they'll get it, since that will be the centennial world cup. 2034 is probably bound for China, so 2038 is probably the earliest.

Of course, there is no way of telling how fecked football will be in 20 years anyway.
