United Stand

The guy with the huge forehead? I watched a few of his live streams with Phil Brown (who I think is very good and talks sense). The American dude (James?) talks in such a condescending tone, like he knows all of the management at the club. He's a BS merchant but people are so naive these days that they will believe anyone with a YouTube following.

Not sure why this random American guy feels that he knows more than any of the professional journalists who are paid to report on MUFC 24/7.

As i said earlier, no one else has reported that INEOS Sport met Joel Glazer last week, so where is the proof that this happened.

I dislike both Paddock and Utd Stand but completely agree with your post here.

Goldbridge appeals to the permanently online, 15-21 year old demographic I would imagine. People who fed off the drama and want us to sign Mbappe every transfer window.

Paddock is for the older fan I would imagine although last 12 months or so, they've definitely got far more click bait and "HIT THIS VIDEO UP WITH THE LIKES, BRO" kind of channel.

They all suck in my opinion but Paddock is the best of a bad bunch.

Agree. My 15 year old nephew watches United stand and talks absolute sh1te. Nuff said.

All day. Paddock ran by Manchester boys.

Goldbridge is a Forest fan. An opportunist who realized he could pretend to be a United fan to monetize on YouTube. Goldbridge aint even his name. It's a bit.
Goldbridge put a pic of himself in a Utd shirt when he worked in Dublin over 10 years ago, so being a Forest fan because he was born in Nottingham is bollocks. Ive lived near Wolverhampton since 1997 does that mean Im a Wanderers, Walsall or Baggies fan?
Yes he annoying, he plays it mainly funny though. The fact he has multitude other match going sidekicks on though make it watchable as its not only him everytime. Ive watched Howson, and a few others but his channel is probably the best out of the fan channels.

The United View is definitely my goto channel. They don't do the annoying clickbaity headlines, and although it's pretty obviously they have some kind of affiliation with the club, it doesn't stop them from calling out the issues that need to be discussed.

Fair play to Goldbridge, he's clearly figured out the formula for winning on social media. His 1.7m subscribers and being able to bait people like Rashy and Neville into responses prove this.

if you actually listen to Goldbridge, his views are hardly sensationalist or controversial, I'd say he's quite sensible. It's the formula of YT channels that's tiresome for me - making content 3-4 times a day means you're repeating yourself over and over, but for an occasional listen it's ok - not groundbreaking insight but also not some daily star sensationalist shit stirring as some believe it is.

Sorry, but i have a problem with local fans not supporting their local team, unless there is a strong family link. But that is just my personal opinion.

I don't like any fan channels. It's all tripe if you ask me.

Goldbridge has a face that you just want to punch for no reason. He just has a punchable face, he could be talking about anything and his face just makes him instantly dislikeable as well as that he's impossible to listen to.

He looks like one of Jim Henson's Muppets.

If everybody did that then the United fan base would be significantly smaller!

It's a complete nonsense statement to make.

Agreed. There's just this aura of self importance (my opinion MUST be heard) that the majority have.

Would that be the worst thing?
Maybe we wouldn't have opportunists from America trying to squeeze every penny they can out of the club, if we didnt have such a huge fanbase.

You're basically saying you don't think 95% of the Caf should be here and a big chunk of United's history shouldn't exist.

You taken a poll? What chunk of United's history?

You may not like it, but I feel English fans who don't have a family tie to a club, should support their local team. Or at the very least, their local Premier League team.
Not devaluing someone's support or passion for United, just because they picked United to support when they had multiple other clubs in their area to support. If fans are spending time on The Caf, they are obviously very dedicated fans.

Why stop at fans? wouldnt it be better if we had an all manc history of players/managers

Getting annoyed over clickbait in 2023 is crazy. Don’t be angry about getting sucked in by obvious bollocks.

I don't think people get sucked in so much as they just can't escape it. The amount of people grifting is at an all-time high and it's a plague on the internet.

Most of the clickbait is based off the older form of clickbait, false newspaper stories. It’s basically just a modern version.

I can’t help but think, it’s just one guys random opinion.. it holds the exact same weight as everyone else’s, it’s just that some randomers on the internet have decided that his is worth more for some reason.. I left a comment on a Tiktok about this earlier, just saying “he got caught out clickbaiting, just take the L and move on” .. and his followers have been non stop having a go at me ever since, honestly, it’s like some kind of cult.

Stretford Paddock has become very similar to Goldbridge, it’s just not quite as cringey.

I haven't taken a poll and it's hardly scientific but just from the feel of it, a very large proportion of people on the Caf aren't from Manchester. You can just tell and I think most people would agree.

In terms of what chunk of United's history, if you took away non-local supporters, you don't think the path United have taken would be significantly different? And I'm not talking about post-Glazer United but everything before that as well, if United didn't capture the imaginations of fans around the world, they wouldn't have been able to become such a big club, attract the players they did, etc.

From a personal experience point of view, I'm not from Manchester and don't have strong family ties to United but I didn't have anyone getting me into football so the only exposure I got to football was on telly, whether it was the FA Cup or the Champions League (of course, I wouldn't have Sky Sports at the time). As a kid, knowing nothing about football, I wasn't going to just walk into my local football ground and start supporting my local club. Naturally, with TV being the only exposure I got to it, it was hard not to be mesmerised by the football United played at the time and the characters in the squad, Fergie's Fledglings.

The number of fans has helped commercially, granted.

Where are you from?

Paddock is brilliant, surprised to see it get so much hate in here. I’m not fussed about the 5-10 minute videos where they round up the days paper talk, or do a lineup prediction etc, but the long form stuff they do is great. Jay, Joe and Howson all have great chemistry and can be hilarious at times.

I've actually been watching quite a lot of Stretford Paddock recently. I've always been put off watching because I'm not a huge fan of either Howson or McKola, but both Jay and Joe are good lads and they all have good chemistry with each other.

It's infinitely better than the United Stand.
Some of the clowns on there make Goldbridge seem reasonable.

Agreed. I cant watch a minute of Howson, he is probably the worst of the lot for me.

You’re the exception not the norm. Same goes for every other clubs fans. Even at international level.

What would be very dubious is the shirt… eg if he was wearing a Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Chelsea Leeds etc shirt I’d think he was shady. But a Forest shirt, perfectly explained see nothing abnormal with that.

 do grown adults still say things like this ?
You’re from a country built on colonisation and embracing different cultures/people. A league with huge amounts of foreign players, managers and owners. Uniteds greatest ever players were from outside Manchester and England.
But the line is drawn at NOT supporting your local team.

That is the top red way.

He's a gobshite and a performing monkey. It's good for drinking up the schadenfreude if you've lost or something big's gone against you. Bloke's obviously found a successful formula though. Think about 40k watch his watch alongs live. Sunday Sport's probably an apt description.

Oh. I was Salford born. Married a Walsall girl. Thats why eventually moved to Black Country. My son is a Wanderers fan.

United stand has gone down hill a lot lately, Adam jumped ship recently, Ricky is full of it, Beth and Faz, well, the less said about them two the better
