United scouts impressed with Brazilian wonderkid

Messi is 1.70m and Vinicius Junior is 1.77m

Size doesn't really matter when it comes to football. He's definitely talented. We missed out on Gabriel Jesus. We should try and sign him up. Definitely has the skill to rival Neymar without the diving aspect.

Just wanted to post this amazing highlight, after reading this thread again. Such an amazing player, making his debut after the Real Madrid.

I think I said it before, but I don't remeber if it was here. Real jumped ahead not the get Neymar'ed again, and got skinned beyond their wildest dreams.

He's a good kid, and a very average player. Surely has space to grow, but I just don't see it.

So happy we stayed away.

Ahh "brazilian wonderkid"...if there is a more tantalising phrase in the transfer muppets lexicon I'm yet to find it.

I remember a thread on here years ago that we had signed 6 Brazilian wonderkids and it stirred the inner muppet.

Can't recall their names bit think it came to nothing unfortunately.

Would be great for us to unearth the next Messi, Suarez or Neymar from south america though.

Aye, all Depor kids if I recall...

I don't want was more atrocious, his performance or the music?

The "music" :lol::lol::lol:

Pretty harsh on such a young kid, but paying such an obscene amount of money was always going to be risky. Same with Odegaard who has not been seen or heard of for a while.

The music... they really went with the cheapest thing they could find!!:lol::rolleyes:

Must have been his brother's school project

What happened to that Everton Ribena lad, or whatever he was called? We were linked with him under Moyes, probably because his name was Everton, and that matched our transfer policy that year.

He was 16 when they started using him in the professional. Some games he looked like Ronaldo Nazario, next game he could not make a pass. His coach said that this was due to the fact they were doing some strengthening work with him to gain mass.

In the last games of the season when he was used it was obvious that he was the most skilfull player in the pitch, despite not being effective all the time, but was probably the main responsible for Flamengo qualify to the Libertadores in their last games.

The time for your post is very wrong because he is their best player in the start of this season.

This was his last game last night.

He is not an end product, still learning how to play against adults, but your idea about this player its just wrong.

watching them play it out from the back reminds me of the senior team when they got stuffed by Germany!

How does that work. Surely our scouts are more competent to not get duped by agents and YouTube videos. Although we did sign Rodrigo Possebon. Had high hopes for that kid, terrible injury.
That's not really fair mate. Possebon seemed to have what it takes to play here, he had the skills and the technique but the horrendous injury totally derailed his career. The same story as countless other talented youngsters thorough the years.

I feel like it's been a while since someone has been called a "wonderkid". It's usually the next [insert footballer here]. Am I getting old?

Never mind the missed white text about that joke, but did that injury really derail his career? and was it actually "horrendous"? He was only out a month. If one months injury derails a guys career to the point they're now playing for Ho Chi Minh City, how does anyone actually make it?

10-15 years ago there were wonderkids everywhere according to football media and fans.

I get that, but the kid was payed an obscene amount of money. There's always gonna be tons of eyes watching closely.

The fact that you can compare him this young to Ronaldo (at any point of his career) is absurd. He wouldn't be comparable even with Coutinho when he was sold for peanuts to Inter.

Him being the most skilled player on the field on the final game of last season (never mind the last "few games") is not accurate. Especially with Diego and Everton Ribeiro on the pitch. He came on in the middle of the second half, against a tired and lowed ranked Vitoria, and played very well for 25 minutes. The best minutes ever for Flamengo.

His display against Atletico was a little tongue on the cheek, but the amount of hype on this kid is incredibly unjustified. He had a great sub-17 WC, and then showed very little that grant him this much attention. Almost all his games last season were underwhelming. But because he plays for Flamengo, gets hyped beyond belief.

Real Madrid got skinned, big time.

That would be a hefty amount for Luan, and Vinicius Junior showed absolutely nothing to even compare to him.

never noticed the white text.... :nervous:

So how is Alan Guimarães doing since the original post?

I think he's way too small to be successful. He's smaller than Giovinco I think.

Also, U17 prospects are always a huge risk. You look at the champions at U17 level and barely any player makes it to top level.

The other kid, Vinicius Jr has shown nothing close to being Real Madrid starter level yet. He tries too hard and carries the ball too much, looking clumsy. Still, Real Madrid paid 45 mil just for the risk of him becoming a new super star. Besides, that's the price of 1 Paulinho nowadays, which they surely thought was a decent risk to take. The youngster from Flamengo that looks the most ready is Lucas Paquetá, although he's more of a Sevilla/Valencia level if he reaches his potential imo.

Bollocks, possebon was very over rated before his injury, and over rated afterwards. He had a fancy name and alright technique but he wasn't anything special, despite what people who never actually watched him say.

Bollocks? He had good distribution and an excellent pass, I honestly thought he would have taken over from Carrick but things happen and players don't reach their potential.

The fact you never rated him but that I did shouldn't infer that I never watched him, we all have our own personal opinions man.

Never watching him play wasn't directed at you. At the time many united fans rated him highly without ever actually watching the lad play.

He was a sideways passer, an absolute crab. Tom Cleverly genuinely had more promise than him.
