United reportedly approached Nuno Mendes and he looks to be staying at PSG

He had a surgery because of his hamstring in october '23 and looks good since then

Would be so key to sign a lwb not only improves that side but frees up Dalot to play right, then Maz is free to have a rest game or fill in as lcb or rcb,

His recent injury record with hamstrings is concerning. Hope we don’t get fleeced.

One of his first signings at Bayern was alcantara, so even pep isn't above it.
His only signing at Bayern technically

Nuno Mendes is someone you would have scouted heavily regardless of the manager anyways. Though whether your scouts are any good is the question...

Given our transfer record, best case scenario for the scouts is that keep getting ignored by the higher-ups. So not a good look.

No. 1 on my list for sure. Just his pace alone will add so much more to our attack. he's absolutely rapid and is very good on the ball attacking wise. What you need as a LWB.
The only other (better) option would be getting Davies on a free.

Absolute no brainer. Get Nuno Mendes in this January if even remotely possible. Portugese and Amorim connection from the past could help seal the deal. He would transform our left side.

He's my choice too. He has the prerequiste physicality, is proven in the role under the same manager, proven in a different elite team and proven nationally. Also, importantly he's not one of those specialist players that can only play LWB and no other position. I.e. God forbid it doesn't work out with Amorim and we get a new coach who favours 4 at the back, we won't be stuck with having to shift a player who doesn't suit the manager because he's base skillset makes him profile well for both LB and LWB.

Throw everything at Davies on a free in the summer and bringing Alvaro back with the buyback clause so that’ll be a total of £15 million in transfer fees whilst providing a radical improvement at left wing back for us

He'll extend.

Who’s going to tell him?

I think he's a level above where United will be able to buy to be honest, even with the Amorim connection.

Carreras might be the best option given his performances for Benfica this season and cheap buy back clause. But you should probably be prepared for a Ben Chilwell loan + option type move if this doesn't materialize because I don't think United will have the funds to target the likes of Ait-Nouri or Kerkez.

Mendes and Davies unsurprisingly were just using us to leverage more money. There are good options in the Premier League like Ait-Nouri, Robinson and Kerkez or there is a cheaper option like Dorgu.

Unfortunately it’s probably just wait until the summer, but reports in Netherlands that Malacia is going to leave on loan so maybe something will happen. I can’t see us bringing Fernandez back, I think we’ll be hoping he is sold to someone else and we get a good sell on fee.

Now we'll see how good the new regime is i.e. how fast we get our secondary target. Who would it be, how far would that deal be.

Shocking really that we still haven't fixed this gaping hole on the left.

Yep, the the relatively well known options are seeming less and less likely. I don't know who the options are but I find it hard to believe there aren't good options out there.

We already signed some kid that will join in the summer too.

Wonder how that will impact Amass and his progress. Exactly the same age and I can’t believe we’ve bought Leon (who’s had first team football) if we didn’t think he had a good chance of integration in the first team in the next 1-2 seasons.

And they're all very good options. I'm a big fan of signing Ait-Nouri. We'd be a lot more dangerous that left hand side and could look to move Mainoo further up.
