United ready to bring in new full-back

are you signing a left back....? yes....

.........but we are not at the stage where we are assessing that....

OK So......

He said we arent assessing the fact that Evra being fit all the time might put people off. In other words, we're going for whoever we are going for and arent thinking "oh he might not want to come because Evra is always fit, lets go for someone worse"

Yet another poster who apparently thinks that chucking around personal abuse is clever ... when in fact it just draws attention to your lack of substance.

My original post merely pointed out that, on top of the loan-out of Fabio, Fryers has also left you .... thus further underlining the need for you to sign a LB (which is what this thread is all about).

And there I would have left it ... except that in response I was told that Fryers was "never an option". So in response to that, I said that this seems unlikely to be true given all the many reports that Fergie wanted him to stay ... and also given your lack of other, better LB alternatives.

You interpret all this as "gloating".

I interpret your interpretation as "somewhat defensive-aggressive paranoia". But don't worry - that's a common form of behaviour from those who resort easily to chucking around personal abuse.

If Ferguson wanted to find a back-up replacement for Evra from within the club it'd have been Fabio. Instead he has sent him on loan which goes to show that he has had plans to bring a new player from the beginning.

Glaston does take a lot of unnecessary flack on here sometimes, but fryers is 100% not good enough to be our backup left back next year.
I haven't said that he is good enough. In any case, how would I know? I've never seen the lad play.

But, for all I know (and for all most Caftards really know either I suspect), he might well at least be good enough to provide cover (and perhaps even a a degree of competition) for whoever does become your backup LB.

To be fair Bardsley always did well for us. Young kids needing to prove a point should not be discounted.

He's average at best Glaston. I told you this ages ago when Spurs were first linked and you asked what he was like. I'm not even all that sure why Spurs have gone for him.

The problem is that Fabio is considered a much better option and yet he doesnt seem to get a game in place of Evra. So thats why he's going out on loan.

If Fabio isnt getting a chance, Fryers obviously wasnt going to. The same as our other young left back options arent going to. On top of that almost everyone on here thinks Blackett is a better option. Fryers had an impressive game in his chance in the carling cup, but that was at CB against weak opposition. Other than that he hasnt done anything yet and he didnt look to have much about him at LB

I watch a lot of the youth and reserve team games and Fryers never really stood out for me. Blackett looks a much better talent, and even Michael Keane, a centreback, looked better on the few occasions I saw him play as a left back.

Blackett's always impressed me more too, the thing that Fryers had is a bit more physicality about him, but he's a year older, I'd like Blackett to be given a chance.

Is Blackett seen as a natural left back or is he a center half that can do a job on the wings?

I did like Fryers in his appearances for the first team (though he obviously had a way to go) but at younger levels then he didn't really stand-out. I'm not sure why Spurs would apparently pay him such a large wage at this stage but I'm sure Spurs think they know what they are doing.
