If you look at the list, it just doesn't make sense :

1. Real Madrid
2. Bayer Leverkusen
3. Bayern Munich
4. Deportivo La Coruna
5. Gremio
6. Liverpool
7. Arsenal
8. Barcelona
9. MANCHESTER UNITED
10. Juventus

Real deserve to be top. BUT how can Deportivo be ahead of us? How can the Scouse be ahead of Arsenal? If they are ahead because they got further in the champions league, then we should be ahead of the Scouse. Who the hell are Gremio? How the hell did they figure the above standings out? I don't think Man Utd deserve to be first, but how the hell did whoever put this table together figure it out?? <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />
 
Do you think we deserve to be above Arsenal & Liverpool given that they finished ahead of us ?

The Brazillian National team are still ranked in the top 5 - yet had a fight to qualify for this years WC!!!!

Its logical if you think about it - il explain:


Gremio have a player called Sergio - Sergio also is the name of a Portugeese player, this very same player from Lisbon - used to play crib with, abdulah disecce (arab born Italian) who comes from Naples.... anyway Abdulah once watched a game on Eurosport of the Merseyside Derby!
Liverpool have beaten Manchester United (quite a few times of late) so thats why they are above us.... and because Abdullah decends via Germio - they go higher than us!

simple really!

Pool above Leverkusen - yet the germans beat them in the QF?

Leverkusen deserve to be a top 4 team surely!

there always seems to be a euro bias toward "who are the strongest teams" in the world lists. i think there probably should be more s. american teams in these lists.

Gremio has won absolutely nothing since earlier last year. They are now in the semis of the Libertadores (South American CL) and will probably win them. I guess they just needed to throw in a South American team in order to not look biased.

The issue is South American teams are very inconsistent as if they do well at all next thing you know they have sold the whole first team to different European teams who take them to loan out or use them in the reserves hoping they might have the new Ronaldo.

Worse, it is hard to track any kind of point scoring system. Brazil has over a dozen Cups and Leagues running without any of them clearly being more important than the other (I've been here for two years and still can't get it).

It's actually quite funny, TV pundits suggest having a "European-style" league and explain to people how they work -X teams, two rounds, home and away, most points wins- and they just don't get it. Brazilians like being Champions and they will not accept having only one Championship to cleebrate in one year, particularly only one team celebrating it so they run as many leagues/cups as is needed so that everyone can claim to be a Champion at some point over the year (and if anyone is dominating them all they don't get admitted into the next one or make them clash with something else like the WC so that they lose star players and can't walk away with the trophy).

When it comes to organisation these guys are awful. Keane would have punched the manager based on their WC setup. They played no one of any importance and are now staying in a 3-star hotel with no pitch or any green areas, they don't even have a gym or swimming pool (only a pinball for entertainment), just because the local council in Ulsan (?) offered them everything paid for by them (total cost 500K) to stay there and the Brazilian FA loves freebies. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

There's loads of them and they all contradict each other...and how the feck are you supposed to measure clubs from different leagues..

Well thank you for your verdict jopub. You have a very high opinion of yourself mate and I think it's fairly unjustified. You refer to United as manure more often than not and you continually have a dig at United fans in your self appointed capacity as the one who knows it all. You're criticisms are all very well but they needn't be flavoured with your smugness at every opprotunity.

As for wanting you banned, I don't think I actually called for your banning , I merely speculated that if you carried on in the way you have been of late there's a good chance you could fall foul of previously stated guidelines. Sorry if I offended your sensitivity jopub.

But that doesnt happen does it and thats why we're 9th on some stupid list. Big deal. dont see why that concerns anybody and I dont see why it should be anything to boast about (in case it was enetering your mind Davo)

Us lot could make a list where we are comfortably at the top - wow that would really prove something huh?
