Smith and Rio were sold when they were in desperate financial need and in Rio's case we paid a fee that noone else in England could've matched.

If the likes of Chelsea and City are also in I'd assume Leeds would prefer to sell to them than us.

Now they're a mediocre Championship side, not that well off financially, and have plenty of problems.

Club trained in CL is a different thing. Three years at the club before 21. Think he might still be club trained if he joined in the summer too.

Would it be ridiculous to bring in both Cook and Alli over the next two seasons as eventual replacements for Carrick and Schweini? I like the look of both of them especially if Alli can get rid of his tendency to give the ball away. It would be worth loaning Cook out to a newly promoted team to see how he does and in the unlikely scenario he is appalling, sell him on. Well worth a punt for us I'd say.

Wasn't Powell playing in a much lower league though? This lad seems to be doing well in the Championship which is a solid league and pretty tough.

He did his ACL back in August and will be sidelined until around February which hasn't helped but their playing styles are certainly similar.
