Not that I know a lot about the lad but this is really disappointing. All it does is enable the press to continue with their seeming agenda against the club. Look at the disarray, Chelsea beat United to another prospect, United's youth development is rubbish etc. The more these stories appear in the press, the more we reinforce the idea and what started as a campaign develops into something resembling the truth i.e. You say something enough, people start to believe it and then fiction becomes fact.
I think LVG's relationship with the press doesn't help us in this regard but the conspiracy theorist in me suspects that City and their PR team have a large hand to play in this. We are their major rival in the North and how much better to promote their new, bright and shiny youth product than by tarnishing United's. If you are in a direct fight for a promising local talent and all they're reading is the junk peddled by the likes of The Mail and The Sun, who are they more likely to choose?
Someone mentioned on one of the other threads that City had been wining and dining the media and giving them freebies and if true, aside from being really poor/borderline unethical, the sort of recent spin about what a poorly run club we are shouldn't be a surprise. I don't know any other club that is enduring the sort of scrutiny we are at youth level atm. The kids should mostly be able to develop out of the spotlight and it really shouldn't be newsworthy except it's United so anything goes......
