This could mean that we have in effect already signed him or it could be a smoke screen for another signing intended to send the press in the wrong direction. Who knows? Maybe Ferdinand or Thuram or Ayala or Hyppia or ................

Still just part of the closed season game. I'll believe it when I see him in a United shirt at OT just as I will any of the other possible transfer targets.

hows that ?

IF we want the best, we have to pay for the best!!

and Nesta IS the best defender in the World.

Yeah maybe Fergie's telling the PLC... "hey jokers, the whole world knows we are gonna get a defender and u all better give me the money!!!"
:D

Fergie probably will move for Nesta, but he is more likely putting more pressure on Juve to move in on him. He is not overconfident, and Juve want him bad.

Which in turn frees up Thuram.

But £30m for the best cb in the world at 26 is better than £25m for a 29 yr old CB who isnt good enough to stamp his position at club or country and instead gets switched to RB.

If Thuram was THAT good, he would be first choice CB no?

Its not a good policy to buy the players that the foreign clubs have just replaced.

I think one of the reason he was constantly asked to play as a right back is due to his great attacking ability.

it's like why we prefer to play Silvestre on the left instead of CB

and frankly, I'd not want Silvestre at centre back... if that's an indication of Thuram, don't go near him.

The need for good bargains have never been stronger
