United Consider Move for £12m Barcelona Star Bojan

Well with the acquisition of Villa, and if they manage to get Fabregas, I really don't know where Pedro is going to play, I remember reading something about Pedro thinking about leaving originally a year back or so but was convinced to stay.

Villa would certainly replace Zlatan... Pedro is a winger and has been one of their best players this season... Fabregas plays in Cm so how in the hell will he effect Pedro ? Unless your going to waste Iniesta on the wings... A MF of Fabregas, Xavi and Iniesta is Sex... A forward line of Villa, Messi, and Pedro is sex.

It's all laughable really. Barca wouldn't sell him and we wouldn't want or need him frankly.

I don't see why Barca wouldn't want to sell him,. he needs first team football and every year that doesn't happen, I remember originally hearing he would be part of the deal for Villa.

We can't assume that everybody who comes through La Masia is going to make it at Barca, it doesn't happen. Do any of us ever see him making that center forward spot his own? For his own development, he might want to move on in the near future.

My understanding is that Iniesta will play in that front three and Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta will be the midfield, Iniesta is well versed in that role anyway.

That's what's going to happen in my opinion, Iniesta will be shifted to the wings, and I wouldn't say he would be wasted, he's played alot of times there before and with the constant movement I see him taking up alot of central positions regardless, he comes inside from the left wing.

A trio of Fabregas,Xavi and Iniesta would be sex but they would need somebody to protect the back four, and after the last 2 seasons you're not going to see Xavi doing that sort of dirty work again like he did for Rijkaard.

FFS he 19. Not alot if natural finishers like him out there. feck it its muppet season count me in!!!!

Seriously though id like to see him in a coventional 442. Id say it might suit him better than Barcas system

I remember the days when the Muppet's would get excited when United were linked with anyone with a vowell at the end of their name.... These days it seems an obvious lack of vowells is what gets the juices flowing.

Wow, you're an idiot!

You think (given our predicament) it would be a good idea to splash out on another small, poacher-type striker who is unproven in the Premiership, not yet a regular for Barcelona, who would be probably reluctant to come, and who would not fit in any way into the normal English game or our current system?

I'm very glad you're not in charge of player recruitment.

You should note that I didn't say he was a bad player just that he would be an waste of money for us.

bs surely. they wouldnt sell him for 30m , let alone 12.

Well. he was first team choice with Rikjaard, never was with Guardiola, and if they opt to keep Zlatan while also signing Villa there will be almost no playingtime at all for him.. I think Barcelona seems to have a bit of loyalty towards their talents. They know if they don't play - they don't evolve. So their side of the deal might be factual.

I doubt Ferguson wants him though, don't think he is what we are looking for. And is he that much better than the ones we have? Owen, Chicharito, Diouf, Welbeck, Macheda... If we are to sign a striker, something tells me it will be a bigger name.

Pure bullshit. They wouldn't want rid and we wouldn't want him.

12 Mil would be great for his potential, but I don't mean to sound like a Muppet, but the lad does look incredibly small/weak for the Premier League![/QUOTE]

Is he much smaller than the likes of Michael Owen & Defoe??

who we need is a senior striker, not another youngster.

bs story

Not so sure. Look at how the last senior striker signing turned out for us.......................

Cue the apologists.

Must admit this is a surprise, I hadn't expected the papers to tie us in with this lad. Still "reportedly interested" really means nothing at all. As usual there's zilch in the article to indicate that Fergie is interested.

Other than that I haven't seen very much of him at all.

I would imagine some journo has simply decided that Bojan is the odd one out after the Villa signing and could be sacrificed.

Zlatan would obviously cost us too much, so Bojan sounds like a more plausible rumour.

I should add that in the past 2 weeks, during which I have said very little about our lazy friend, I am quite sure I have passed up on dozens of opportunities.

this is a complete non-starter....barca will never let him leave. OK they ve just signed a new striker but henry is no spring chicken either, so there will still be a place for Bojan next season

Why would Pedro want to leave? He's played plenty of football, unlike Bojan.

Which is why, presumably, he's being linked to us and not Pedro.

With Villa coming in and Zlatan most likely to stay, I can't see him having so many chances he did this season. Unless he has one blinder of a WC.

I like Pedro a lot more than Bojan, so he would my preference. And my preference was the only thing I brought out.

Well that was a poor rumour tbh. He is the type of squad player that it makes no sense to sell. He is versatile, scores goals, is loyal and wont complain about not being first choice because he is going to get closer to 30 games season in season out at one of the most successful clubs around. He is their version of Solksjaer. I'd be very surprised if they'd let him go.

He has already made it at Barca. He is a key squad player. He doesn't need to be a constant starter to have made it there. Anyone thinking he will become a super star if he left Barca would be kidding themselves. He is going to have a very successful career if he stays put. Both at club and international level without ever being super star.

Pedro > Bojan

I've seen Anderon > Gerrard, Pennant > Ronaldo and Foster > Reina to mention a few over the years on here so those statements don't mean much.

They would bite our hands off if we were mad enough to give them anywhere near 30.

He's not really all that great and for someone who had over 1000 goals for their reserves and is so highly rated he does miss a lot of absolute sitters, and crucial ones.

Not yet a regular for Barcelona? Ffs he's 19 and he's already played 126 games for them. When Messi was 20 he had played less. He also has 20 goals in 30 youth caps along with a callup and a cap. He's a way bigger talent than Welbeck or Diouf. By miles.
At 12m he'd be a bargain. Doubt he is the kind of player who asks for outrageous wages. So his sell value would not go down from the 12. He's more ready than all the youngsters we have up front. His 24 games in CL is prove of that. He even played against Inter and looked way more dangerous than Zlatan. And English defenses are harder and better than Inter's right?

Again, yes all true. I'm not making an absolute judgement on him so much as his appropriateness given our situation. We have seven strikers on the books, at least two of which are of a similar style and build and one is young and recently purchased. I don't think it is worth paying out for someone who doesn't seem to fit either our needs nor looks an ideal match for English conditions.

If we had money to burn and hadn't just spend money on Diouf and Hernandez then maybe but given all that, it would be an odd move to make.

But this is all irrelevant anyway as it's obviously a non-starter.
