United charged by FA for surrounding Ref vs Fulham

Are we saying it would have gone to VAR anyway, without our players protesting? I agree refs need protection and take the points made that it’s a fine, 13 other cases already, etc.. It did not strike me at the time ‘we are in trouble here’, or that they were especially over the top or intimidating. Surely, when in the right, confirmed by VAR, there is mitigation. Surely it’s reasonable that players can protest? I can’t imagine Maguire screaming choice words at the match official.

Surrounding the ref is bad now? even without touching him?
No wonder why they give out cards like Santa on Xmas.

It was always bad, but they just seem inconsistent on which teams to punish when it happens

Yes, this is how VAR works. They check everything.

It has been shown every team gets charged for this, and correctly so, to be honest. Nothing to see here then

Even if protesting is necessary to get the referee's attention, there are other ways to do it that this:

In fact, we manage to complain to the ref tens of times every single game without surrounding him, usually.

It was UTds fault ,Willian hand ball, its there fault Mitrovic pushed the Ref. FA had to do something with both teams, but didn't in Palace game only had eyes for Casimero as always. Ayew wasn't even looked at and it was worse ffs. Fa every season has to stick it to UTD one way or another.

"Manchester United have been fined £65,000 due to the referee being a coward and ignoring a blatant handball, instead referring the decision to VAR"

Joke of a decision. We should have just left Mitrovic tear the ref apart altogether.

Our players acted like dicks and the fine is tiny.

I’d rather ETH came out and said the players were splitting the fine between them than complain about the fine.

One of the major blights on our game is the lack of respect for refs. Other sports dont stand for the shit our sports refs do.
Our players were in the wrong
No excuses

Refs being inconsistent or wrong etc are issues for people other than the players to sort out.

Im amazed at the comments in this thread

Two wrongs dont make a right. The sport needs to be much tougher on how players treat the refs.

 he was all bluster, he wouldn't have done nothing

Would be great if the refs applied fines consistently. Apply it whenever more than 2 players approach the ref. Deduct from the salaries of all involved
