United/Arsenal combined eleven.

I wouldn’t really say there attack is better… I’d put it more down to them working together for longer and knowing the managers philosophy. Once our attack is up to date with the managers style of play then we’ll look miles better.
They signed their CF this summer so the longer argument doesn't make much sense right now.

I don't think we have sorted our attack yet. Antony and Sancho will start soon but I am hoping CR7 is the CF. The guy has goals in him.

Jesus
Sancho ----------- Bruno --------------- Saka
Zinchenko ------- Odegaard
Casemiro
Martinez - Varane - White
Ramsdale
Total voetbal. Unsymmetrical with Zincheko playing as an inverted wing back, Odegaard more central and advanced, so it transpositions into 433 at times with White pushing out to RB.

They’ve had a manager that’s got them use to there style of play though, Jesus was the missing piece for them. We’ve just got a new manager that’s still trying to work out his best front line and trying to make them click. When both teams are fully firing I’d still go with our attack over there’s.

He’s been better than Ramsdale for the last 12 months.

He has in terms of shot stopping and pretty much nothing else. The fact that United seem to have almost abandoned all attempts to play out from the back indicates how much of a hindrance he is. It causes clear issues in terms of controlling the game, and I would sacrifice DDG's superior shot stopping to obtain a goalkeeper who is capable of playing in a modern, possession based system.

Yeah it should be clear by now that a GK should be offering more than just 'shot stopping'. DDG is always rooted to his line, our CBs always have one less option when they are passing around at the back. His distribution is awful and ETH quickly realized that. Now we are going long every game.

But leaving out DDG only makes sense if Ramsdale is better overall and he’s not
Aaron Ramsdale ranked 40th out of 42 Premier League goalkeepers in Goals saved compared to Post Shot xG, allowing 4.6 more goals than expected based on the locations for an 'average' goalkeeper. He ranked 200th out of 218 in the big five leagues combined.

He’s constantly making mistakes on top of that as well and I don’t see Arsenal being any way special with playing it out from the keeper.
Even if he is better that’s a shocking record that can’t be overlooked because he can find Tierney a bit better than DDG can find Dalot imo

these lists are insane and don’t follow logic from one position to the other

It really depends on who is the combined manager.
It it's Ten Haag :
Ramsdale (I really think both managers want a GK to build from the back)
Dalot (Ten Haag wants attacking RB/LB)
Varane
Saliba/Martinez (not much difference )
Malacia

Casemiro
Odegaard
Xhaka (I think Ten Haag would prefer a more Box to box cm but there are none available)

Antony
Jesus
Martinelli (I think Ten Haag would love his pressing)

Arteta :
Ramsdale
White Varane Saliba Zinchenko(Arteta loves a CM like lb)
Casemiro Partey Odegaard
Jesus CR7 Martinelli (I can't see Arteta dropping a player like CR7, he'll try to make it work until January)

Ramsdale

Dalot
Varane
Saliba
Zinchenko

Casemiro
Xhaka
Odegaard

Sancho
Martinelli
Jesus

This is quite interesting, but probably a bit too early for this. 10/15 games into the season will give us a better idea. The defence could easily be changed. I suspect (hope) Antony will enter this, but he can't be in there before he's even played.

Id swap White for Saka and Gabriel for Martinez.
You maybe right, but it’s probably to early to conclude Martinez is better or worse. Need to watch him a couple of more matches. I’m not completely sold on him yet. For now I like his aggressive play, which is perfect and deeply needed for United.

Ramsdale
White / Saliba / Varane / Zinchenko
Partey / Casemiro
Saka / Odegaard / Martinelli
Jesus

Nobody asked for a picture of Xabi Alonso.

Ramsdale, Saka and Jesus are the only Arsenal players who interest me. Not to say the others are bad, or couldn’t do well here, but the two squads are a much of a muchness, really.

Lots of flavour of the month bias in here, too. I mean, every team has Odegaard in it, yet I wouldn’t swap him for Bruno at all.

Arsenal are in a good place at the moment, but we know from experience how quickly that can change.

Ramsdale

Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Zinchenko

Casemiro - Xhaka

Saka - Ødegaard - Martinelli

Jesus

Close call between Ødegaard/Eriksen/Bruno but the latter has just been too poor for too long. Also close between Sancho and Arsenal's wingers.

Presumably we are ignoring Man United's first two matches in this equation? especially the one against Brentford. We would have to surely as United conceded in that game as many goals as Arsenal have conceded all year.

Martinez over Saliba. I mean, I dont even know where to begin.

How come? It's not like Saliba has been ripping it up in the PL for years so it's not that unreasonable to put Martinez in ahead of him .

Ramsdale; Dalot, Varane, Saliba, Zinchenko; Casemiro, Xhaka; Sancho, Odegaard, Saka; Jesus

This team is such short termism just because Arsenal started the season well.

Ramsdale has one of the worst save percentages in the top 5 leagues.
Xhaka over Eriksen or Bruno is ludicrous.
Saka is vastly overrated because he is English, and is in no way, shape or form better than Antony. He is not even better than Rashford or Martial.

That’s the typical pessimism of the caf, for some people our players are shite and other team’s players are all world class.

My take:

DDG
DALOT VARANE MARTINEZ MALACIA
CASEMIRO ERIKSSEN
BRUNO
ANTONY RASHFORD SANCHO

We were better today, we are looking better. They may have sterile possession, but we got week constructed goals.
