United announce Richard Arnold as new Chief Executive

Very smart

Is it?

Gill is an arsewipe. Completely in it for himself and own progression, and just as responsible for the shitshow that ensued post-Ferguson as Woodward.

Backed the Glazers. Sold Ronaldo. Presided over the dereliction of the playing staff. Involved in the Moyes debacle. Got out and into a cushy job as soon as shit looked like hitting the fan.

If Arnold is truly smart then he’ll do his own thing.

Ronaldo equated himself to a slave, he had to go.

He was then replaced by Valencia and Obertan and we got a lot worse over time. Where did that money go?

This happened under Gill’s watch. His good reputation hinges on being the benefactor of leaving when Ferguson did. Had he stayed he’d have sank like the rest of them.

For me he's doing all the right things. Time will tell but he seems to be trying his best not to make the same mistakes as his predecessor.

Okay. Let's break it down.

Attempting to buy a big name signing, just as we have done in the past - check
Failing to sell our deadwood players - check
Hiring a man who is not known for management, to manage the side on an interim basis - check
Then firing that man, who is known for building clubs (at board level), when we need someone to advise us on building our club - check
Failing to secure the targets before pre-season - check
Setting up the manager to fail (see above) - check

Yep, he is certainly doing ALL the right things.....to fail.

Yeah… BUT… did you see him getting the pints in with the lads and that? Just a bloody good bloke doing regular bloke things. All on camera as well, so we can all see it.

And then just a few days later he meets with Gill - a guy we associate with success - and again he has the decency of having it photographed for us plebs to see.

Surely that cancels out the ‘nitpicking’ stuff you highlighted?

Gill isn't an arsewipe...think you're getting him confused with Peter Kenyon.

Gill was and still is involved with UEFA because of his tenure under Fergie, most of it was success and he presided over a lot of change and knowledge.

The transition from Gill and Fergie to Moyes and Woodward was a complete failure and both tandems have to share the blame.

Smart and successful people at the top levels gain as much insight and knowledge from others who have assumed similar positions and success, then proceed to be their own person. If history is to repeat itself (i.e United winning major trophies and being much more competitive), one has to look to the past to see the signs.

Doing all the right things. Hopefully Fletcher will get another promotion.

He's much, much, much better than the last guy.
Absolutely. I think being CEO of corporations you need/forced to do this kinda things to keep consumers... In this case the fans happy. Personally i think we should move away from these kinda things but then again, i also thought ADM signing was "this is it"
