Voted Lib Dem. In a Lib Dem area that could swing Tory. Would have voted Green otherwise.

Oh i would take this right back to the original introduction of devolved powers, and he manner in which it has been handled since that time. To add insult to injury, Labour's only answer in England involved Prescott's Regions and a smattering of elected mayors. If it had to be embarked upon there should have been a uniform system right across the UK, something which preserved the union as opposed to this gradual decline.

Ah, that's fair enough then. Devolution has been good for Scotland, but I do agree that there should've been equal devolution across the UK: in the long-term I think that federalism might be the best approach since sorting out issues like EVEL at Westminster is going to be a nightmare.

Jon Snow interviews members of each of the 4 main parties about Scotland. Hits the nail on the head too.

Exit polls should appear shortly after 10pm. After that we wont really know much more til the bulk of the results roll in early tomorrow morning.

Edit: I say that, how long do exit polls normally take to appear?
About 2 seconds after 10pm. The news outlets have them before but not allowed to release until polls closed

This is why I'm not entirely sure about the "as long as you're in the queue you can vote late" thing. People shouldn't be voting after exit polls.

Yeah I think the idea is that once you're inside you won't 'hear' the poll results. All these laws created pre-Internet

May as well have just voted Tory for all the backbone Clegg has.
Nah, every seat less the Tories have lessens the chance they'll be able to claim themselves the winners post election.

Reminds me, have we debated whether or not Damo is getting five years for creating what is now effectively a published exit poll?

Right, so I assume Labour is one of the parties, but who's the other? SNP?

Can't believe it's taken so long to hear someone challenge them like that. Well done Jon Snow, but the SNP narrative's already been set.

I read something earlier about Labour not wanting another election this year as it would not benefit them. Why is this?

Result probably wouldn't change much, and they wouldn't be able to afford it.

Don't understand the question? One of the parties to what?

If you mean who will labour join with? It won't be SNP.

the SNP won't vote for any tory Queens speech, if they don't vote 'for' a labour one, they won't vote against it (thus giving tories another chance)they would just abstain which means labour would likely only need lib dems to be friendly with to pass a Queens speech.

This is why ed has gone on and on about not having a coalition with SNP, they don't actually need them

Anyone who fancied that LibLab coalition bet - odds are 9.4 on betfair at the moment. I still think that's a great offer.

I only realised this recently. A lot of the talk before, mainly from the Tories was that Labour needed the SNP and they were would proceed to feck up the UK.

Voted Green. Gonna be genuinely gutted if Cameron gets in, a month ago I wouldn't have cared all that much.

Snow's excellent, to be fair, and Channel 4 are often decent too. I doubt you'd see someone on the BBC challenging them to that extent.

Going to be a very boring election night in Northern Ireland. The DUP will take back East Belfast from Alliance because the UUP aren't contesting there, everywhere else will stay as is.

This part is true. The only problem would be post-Queen's speech when it comes to issue on policy: the minority government may struggle to get certain things through without the support of the SNP if they decided to be awkward.

Is there any particular preference over there as to who gets into government out of Labour and the Tories?
