UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

Vitinha still absolutely shining in that midfield. Proper player.

Liverpool have the team perfect for grinding results in league, but they seem to lack individual quality to force goals in games like this. Jota and Diaz don't really seem dangerous on the pitch.

Liverpool definitely have individual quality, Trent and Salah, even though the latter looks off it as of late..

somehow we are now poor physically, technically, and mentally. We do things other clubs can only dream of.

thats the most frustrating aspect of our plight. surely even a poor team can be fit and athletic.

Watching this I think probably Amad, Mazraoui and Fernandes could play this match - with maybes for yoro (?), garnacho, de ligt (in that some defenders here are not exactly rapid), ugarte in a destructive role, and more questionable maybes for mainoo and dorgu.

I would say for a combination of lack of speed and simply not enough technical ability for a game of this pace Casemiro, Eriksen, Maguire, Dalot, Zirkzee and Hojlund are all big no nos.

But clearly we need 3-4 very athletic but also technically skilled players this summer.

Pretty even game so far, maybe a bit better chances on our side.
Id get Laimer off, that ref seems like he wants to get someone off.

Wolves must be kicking themselves that they didn't take Porto up on the optional €20m fee at the end of his loan deal. Looks like such a classy player.

This game has been scrappy as feck.

People equate cagey to high quality during CL ties
Yeah, rather watch the PL's speed merchants showcasing their majestic athletic abilities, only equal to their complete lack of footballing skills.

How is luckypool still alive in this tie?

PSG is so poor with their finishing.

And can someone tell me how is Liverpool nr. 1 in PL by so much?

Both have been linked with moves away in the summer. Diaz isn't consistent enough for me and Jota is injured/unfit too often to be relied upon.

PSG are perma bottlers. They always find a way to chuck it away, even though their general play and buildup is slick.

Didn't think PSG would look significantly better as a team without Mbappe, but they sure do.

They're the less worse team.

In England, people tend to mistake marathon with football.

Arsenal, City, Chelsea etc are worse and overall PL is more competitive than France but Slot also messed up in fielding his A team against Southampton instead of the kids....?

PSG have a superb squad and are the Man City of Ubereats Ligue, it's just that we don't watch them often enough to realise how good they are. I wish these players would play elsewhere because they deserve more airtime.

They're the best of a bad bunch. Also they've been able to stay clear of long-term injuries. Arsenal have been struggling to score goals due to Saka's injury and Odegaard's poor form. Man City had a few months of losing every week as they struggled to cope without Rodri.
