UEFA Champions League - 29/01/25

Which City player lunged in and made the Brugge number 9 look like prime Messi?

That's The Athletic's "sensible transfer for United" Matheus Nunes, getting absolutely done there for the goal.

Nunes.
Been a trainwreck since joining them.
Thought he was great at Wolves but Pep's got him playing as a right back.
Ah, yeah. I think he was being stuck out on the wing for several weeks at one point as well.

Seems to be getting played everywhere except his actual position.

Doesn't feel like he's got any games playing in his actual best role as a box to box midfielder, always randomly filling in places or doing a specific task. Can tell Pep doesn't really rate him, but just sees him as one of the few midfielders they have who can run.

Wait how does it work, are play off matchups decided by table ranking, or draw?

I want city to get knocked out but part of me wants to keep them in so we have as many teams left in as possible who are capable of stopping Liverpool.

fair play to Brugge for going to the Etihad and playing. Could have shut up shop

Both. Pairs are drawn, 9/10 will play against 23/24. So you don't know for sure who you will play, but it is still decided by table ranking.
