UEFA Champions League 24/25 - Playoff Round - 11/02/25 and 12/02/25

I thought he was absolutely meh but like he often does, he masks these performances with a goal.
Thats harsh. He was involved a lot. Works hard. Does a bit of everything. I wish we had someone who can mask their meh performances by at least getting in a goalscoring position in the box.

I had commented on it before he scored, I thought he worked incredibly hard, stole the ball plenty of times and knitted things together with that dysfunctional two behind him. Again, i dont like him and dont doubt therell be an overreaction, but i thought he was good
Him putting in the effort is undeniable. He works hardest of their superstars.

I have no love for Real Madrid, but this one sparks joy. Feck City.

If it wasn't for Madrid, Liverpool would have 2 more CL trophies and city would provably have a couple more too.

God bless em. Hope they win it again this year just so Liverpool don't!

Niko Kovac masterclass today :D

3-0 maybe flatters Dortmund, Sporting were the better team in the first half but Dortmund better in the second. 3-1 would've been a more even result.

Should make them safe to go through to the next stage.
And I just realized that Guirassy is the top scorer in the CL... 10 goals already (and 4 assists). Best transfer they did in years?

I really dont like bellingham but I thought he was the best player tonight. Not a performance for the ages or anything but he, valverde and vinicius were very good with bellingham motm for me.
Yeah, he was decent tonight. I don't know why anyone would say he did nothing. Not anything stand out until the the goal, but solid and very tidy, certainly not nothing.

Eh, the enemy of my enemy is still just my enemy's enemy, to abuse that saying a bit. I may applaud them when they bet somebody I dislike, but that doesn't mean I like em.

I dont understand the hatred you guys have for Bellingham
He played well tonight and doesn’t stop working.
I wish we had signed him.
Awesome player.

Luckily Jude cleaned up that chip, what a terrible touch by Vini.

All in all thought the first half was competitive and we shaded it but still draw would have been fairer than us being one up.

2nd half after Akanji went off we were cooked and wouldn't have deserved to get out of it with a draw so fair results in the end.

Strange game. 3-2 final score plus Real and City both hitting the bar twice, could have been anything but better team won.
If Akanji and Ake aren't injured and Pep made those changes by choice, he has a lot to answer for. The fact we consistently throw away leads with Gundo, Lewis and Kovacic on the pitch and Pep brought all 3 on, better be injury related.

Fully expect Real to beat us by at least 2 in the return leg and go through 6-3 or so on aggregate, especially if they get a couple of defenders back. They're just better than us.

Bellingham does the defensive work of 2-3 players and still carries Reals biggest threat. I don't see how people can say he did nothing tonight. Best player on the pitch.

Chaotic game between two severely flawed teams. Both are far behind Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG.

Yes, PSG.

Crazy how Madrid keep churning out results without a Rudiger, Alaba, Military and Carvajal. Just elite mentality.

He was excellent tonight. Quality player.

It's absurd, really blinded by their hatred for him.

Probably the way he gets hyped by English media even he does nothing. Tonight however, he was superb
A lot of it is also to do with him not exactly being the most likeable of players with his attitude on the pitch and just the constant whining and whinging. He's a world class player though.

City are stupid as well. Their high line was asking for trouble, even late on while 2-1 up!

Reminded me of their tie a couple years back when city were too proud to see the game out, so Madrid went up the other end and scored. As soon as that pen went in it should’ve been operation shutdown. But not pep.

They're mentally phenomenal but I don't think it'll be enough vs Leverkusen/Atleti. They've not been good in big games and those teams won't be as wide open as City are at the back.

He's the main man for Real Madrid and he's 21. I can't remember an English player doing that before.

I think he gets hyped the appropriate amount. He's already a fantastic player. Of course he has bad games sometimes but so does everyone.
