U23s: Manchester United vs Leicester City

Port Vale wants to take Harrop on loan (deal not finalized yet). Will be interesting to see if he plays at all (if fit).

Do we think there's a chance of seeing Smalling and TFM tonight? They definitely need some minutes.

I forgot about them. I think TFM will definitely start and I wouldn't be surprised to see Smalling play too.

Is CBJ still injured? I've seen him linked with a loan move to West Brom.
That would be great if true. They've got no one at LB and had to play Evans there in the opener. He's bound to get plenty of minutes.

This seems to have come from The Sun though, so I won't get my hopes up.

Oh I saw it somewhere else. Yeah it would be a great move for him. PL experience and if he performs we can go into next season with him and Shaw as our two left-backs.

XI?

My guess would be something like Henderson - Fosu-Mensah,Poole,Tuanzebe,Riley - Goss,Redmond - Weir,Willock,El-Fitouri - McTominay

Subs O'Hara,Mitchell,Kehinde,Osolunde,Warren

Is this Under 23s or Under 21s?

PREMIER League 2 explained...
THE Premier League today announced significant changes to its Professional Development Phase programme with the introduction of Premier League 2. For season 2016/17 Premier League 2 will replace the current U21 league and the eligible age range will be extended to incorporate U23s.

In a move to establish Premier League 2 as a standalone competition, these changes to the U21 system have been designed to improve and increase opportunity for players to move into the first team.

Premier League 2 will remain a league of two divisions: Premier League 2, Division 1 and Premier League 2, Division 2. In addition to the league, teams will have opportunity to compete in an extensive games programme that includes the Premier League Cup, The Premier League International Cup and, for the first time, the EFL Trophy.

De Laet,Matt James,Tom Lawrence,Liam Moore,Kapustka and Gokhan Inler start for Leicester.

Strong Leicester team that. I thought TFM would get some minutes here but that doesn't seem to be the case. I expect him to be involved soon because I can't see him starting for the first team at the moment.

Where's Wilson ? and even Will Keane ?

Surely he should be out on loan by now ?

Can see few of this team needing loans as well so we might even see the U18s starting a few.

In the last few years we have some players who barely play at all throughout the whole season so make sense for me to trim down the size of the squad a bit and having U18s on the bench instead, with the top U18s starting.

How come we can't manage to field a single striker, season after season ?

He is, but until the EL and Capital One Cup start, not sure where he will get game time. He has to even get on the bench first.
Apparently Mourinho keeps his senior squad distanced from everything else, which explains why Basti, Januzaj etc. are all pretty much excluded from things. He isn't flexible like van Gaal to dip players in and out of U21 matches for fitness.

Any news on where Andreas Pereira is? CBJ is playing so I'm a bit surprised Andreas isn't. @khoazany

Jesus...such a strong Leicester team, especially across the middle.

The lads are going to have their work cut out for them tonight.

I would say that seeing as Pereira and TFM arent with the u21s, yet CBJ is, CBJ isn't in the immediate plans of the first team squad.

Fosu-Mensah is part of the plans, Pereira isn't. Similar position to Januzaj according to Luckhurst.

Yeh not too surprised at that. I just think this is a signal Borthwick-Jackson wont get close to the first team anytime soon.

Olosunde and Kehinde are our wingers with Mitchell on the bench ?

How does that make sense ?

He's been injured all summer though, so makes sense to get some minutes in U23 matches. Not saying he's not going on loan but there is a reason why he's playing in this one, he needs match fitness.
