U21s: United vs. Aston Villa

We're playing quite nicely if not with masses of threat. I'd rather see this sort of football and a 1-0 or 2-0 win than a load of long balls and Macheda/King/Henriquez tap-ins.

Bebe's providing a good straightforward outlet, in a way, if not doing much with it. But you feel like maybe if someone like Barmby or Daehli had started there, we wouldn't need that outlet.

HT 0-0.

Januzaj is magic. Lawrence has ability but needs to be more careful in possession at times.

Charni has impressed me. His workrate is good but he is fouling a lot. He does also have a good touch and short-passing game. Hendrie looks far more limited technically.

Mcullogch is very comfortable on the ball for a CB. We need more of this.

23 year old Bebe looks half decent.....against a bunch of 17/18/19 year olds.

Some good, some bad from Lawrence but the main thing is he seems fit and eager to express himself. I'll take that over an overly cautious comeback any day, even if it means making a mistake or two.

This sums it up perfect.

Compared to the last game Bebe hasn't done too badly in this game. He looked like a donkey in the previous game.

As for the game, we have had control for most of the game but the final pass has been lacking. Januzaj has been the best player on the pitch.

It's the first time I've watched Janujaz and boy, he's impressed me! There's an air of flair about him...not yet the polished article and possibly overdoing it at time. But the flair...loads of it too it seems!

Great cross from Bebe, but then 2mins later he come up with a criminal piece of defending.

Poor performance all around - I did not expect too much with that line-up, but it's still been poor. Ekangamene and Hendrie isn't exactly a midfield-duo of the highest quality.

But the Villa-defenders aren't that quick - would have been nice to see Wilson challenge them

The midfield has been the weak link, there has been virtually no link to the attack.

i will give villa coaches credit for producing the most accomplished group of divers i have seen at this level. The under 18's were not bad at it on Saturday either.

Sickening to loose game from a very soft penalty. I really hoped Bebe would completley loose it and smack the Ref (it would be a clean knock out or he would miss completely) for a number of very good reasons.

 RedPhil doesn't mess about when it comes to reserve level footie, does he?

FT 0-1.

Good experience for the young players against an older Villa side who could only manage to beat us with a dodgy pen. We struggled with their strength and experience for most of the game but games like that improve the young players.

Didn't learn much we didn't already know from watching that;

-The academy players who played struggled a bit strength wise against older players so aren't quite ready for the 21s just yet, but in a year or two they will be dynamite at this level.

-Januzaj is a class act and probably the only exception to the above.

-Mcullogch was impressive, shows good composure on the ball.

-Bebe is shite and needs to be got rid off to anyone who will take him.

- Henriquez didn't stop working despite having a frustrating game which was admirable, however I have seen nothing so far to suggest he's a better striking prospect than Will Keane which is nothing to be ashamed of as Keane is a real gem.
