U21s Semi-finals: Liverpool vs United @ Anfield

Yes! Good stuff. Very impressive from Joyce/Butt.

Varela, it may be finally a good time to take a look on his chances in the first team from time to time.

Injuries to Rothwell, Wilson and Lawrence swinged the match in their favour at the end, before that we were easily bossing them.

Excellent win.

Saying this time after time, with the the young squad we have (who were just dumped in this league with no experience), they have done exceptionally well.

When is the final and can anyone with a membership go?

Excellent defensive discipline from the youngsters. Our "makeshift" central defence has also done excellently. I thought our youngsters would lose their shape after using up so much energy, but they kept their discipline.

On the ball, we've been great. Pearson made himself a great outlet, and Rothwell did pretty well in midfield, too. I'm somewhat disappointed with Lawrence and Pereira as they were too individualistic and only played among themselves rather than with the whole team, but then again, we had 3 defensive-minded players in central midfield, so they didn't have much support through the middle. Reece James was also excellent, on the ball, and I'm wondering why he doesn't play in central midfield given how he's good on the ball and makes good passing options.

I'd love to see Pearson freed up a bit and allowed to go forward, more. He seems to have the energy levels to go from one end to another.

A great result, and let's get that victory against Chelsea.

I liked Reece James when he was playing central midfield earlier in the season, less convinced when he's at left back. But he puts a good cross in

Very good performance. I never got the hype around Pearson, but I was really impressed by him tonight. Energetic, combative and intelligent on the ball. The majority of the team played well but was especially with Pearson.

I wasn't that impressed with Liverpool. For the first 80 minutes they tapped the ball around but did nothing with it thanks to our excellent discipline. We had by far the best chances and what a goal by Pereira.

Warren Joyce. WOW. he has the toughest managerial job, I mean he had a completely different team since January and had to teach the players keep the work ethic in the group.

5th final successively, great.

In those years we had Pogba, Morrision, Januzaj and Will Keane as the top talents produced in that time.

I think our performance, letting them have most of the ball and staying in a good shape defending well suits a player like Pearson. So I'm not surprised he played well and did his job snuffing out trouble very well.

Liverpool's boss has been taking lessons from Brendan. "Progressive" side apparently. Moral winners.

Unfortunate loss. Thought we were the better side and if it wasn't for abysmal finishing near the end we'd have won. Shame Rossiter was injured as he's such a good young player and would've made a big difference.

Incredible goal scored by you lot and I thought Lawrence was very good for you.

Lucky not to concede in the end, but was a brilliant performance until the last ten minutes. Much better all-round performance than last week at Reading which was the opposite, playing brilliantly in the last fifteen to get to the win.

Better side?

I don't know how any person could watch that match and claim Liverpool controlled it. Bizarre really.

Ye dominated the last 10 minutes when our legs had gone but we were comfortable the better team prior to that. Should have been at least 3 up by the time ye got on top.
