U21s: Norwich vs. United

unlucky with the booking and playing off the position but I remember discussing varela in different thread and he is twice the player Love is

I've only seen these lads play a handful of times, maybe 5 or 6, but I can't say I'm very impressed tbh. I've seen snippets of the younger generation like Redmond, Rashford, Mensah and RoShaun Williams and I have to say I'm more excited for that crop of players to come through. Maybe I'm being harsh, as I said I've only seen these a handful of times.

I wouldn't disagree but you should remember Varela is two years older.

Well considering the majority of our best players...are elsewhere, that is perhaps not so strange.

But seriously - this Norwich-side is perhaps the nastiest team I have seen at this level. There have 4-5 situations which should have been yellow - and the ref then decided to book Love as the first for some fairly innocent shirt-pulling in a non-dangerous area.

Other than Pereira and Harrop I don't really rate any of the rest tbh (W.Keane,Lingard and Powell don't belong to this "crop" so I would exclude them out).

well he is one year older and he played at the same age here last year so I guess it's fair to compare them at this stage.

Non of these players will make it at united I guess. Lingard will need a lot of luck, Keane is soon off even tho I am sure he will play for premier league club. Powell's lazy still on the same level when he arrived and this crop looks quite pointless to discuss as they didn't show any spacial talent. Last year it looked much brighter for some players. Rothwell, Harrop, Pearson at the end. Wilson "made it", Varela.. well maybe I should shut up and be optimistic again

Harrop and Pereira have a chance.Let's see how much game times Lingard will have this season.

Very easy to say pessimistic things after a not good result.

How is Will Keane still at United? Not the greatest performance from United. Shaky at the back. Good to see Lingard again. Powell hit and miss, mostly miss.

Nearly half of the squad was playing out of position.Powell and Pereira very disappointed considering their involvement with the first team/senior football.

That U18s side consists of (most of) best players from 3 different crops. This side is basically consist of those left over from Pearson's crop,3 of the best of the Wilson's crop without Wilson himself,Lingard and Powell who played almost zero football this term,Vermijl who should have gone played out of position and a lacking sharpness W.Keane.Obviously the U18s would look better.

How is Will Keane still at United?

A combination of his contract situation, lack of interest from other clubs due to his unproductive QPR loan (I imagine), and United feeling sorry for him because of his long-term injury. At a guess. he'll go to a League 1 club in the summer; might just be lucky enough to find a Championship side interested.

He is trending worldwide on Twitter though

Joking aside he will easily find a Championship club.I mean so did Scott Wootton.I'm still being patient with him personally.

Lingard is a late bloomer, Fergie said that and is very clever and versatile player who can play number of positions. He was very unlucky with the early injury. It would be shame that this affected his career at united. I think he has got a chance... Harrop can do wonders at times but can as well disappear from the games but this was same with Pereira, who just needs to work hard, he has got every talent to make it here never mind his poor performance today. The rest is big question mark.

I am actually being optimistic about our youngsters too often so I thought it be fair to be pessimistic today - with the summary I think it is quite realistic..

Harrop worked his socks off tonight.I personally like him more than Pereira.Has both the talent and mentality.

We will miss Pearson and Rothwell though.Hopefully the latter will be back soon.
