surely whoever that captain is should get done by the FA / Middlesborough for shoving the referee for giving the penalty? plus love the way he threw the armband down and walked into his teammate. class

Still touched the referee, tame or not. Just don't remember when it became the norm for youth players to be allowed to do that, I wouldn't have dared that in my day, and I'm 'only' 37!He hardly shoved him to be fair. In fact as far as angry reactions go it was pathetically tame. Just kind of wandered around in a circle for a bit looking bemused then walked off.
James Weir must be one of the most intelligent footballers around. His ability to constantly get into goalscoring opportunities regardless of which position he plays, is almost strange.
Not surprising. Lvg clearly doesn't rate himSo no start for Adnan against Watford...

If anyone's got a clip of that disallowed goal I'd love to see it.
That's something I've noticed a lot more in the past few years with the academy players. There are certain players who stand out because they're talent is so blatant but even the lesser known talents are so tidy and clever and have a really good understanding of the game and the work rate to make the most of the talent they do have. I think Callum Whelan from the u18s could be another of these types of players who ends up going further in the game than a lot of his more hyped team matesOne of many ways he increasingly reminds me of Lingard. Same positional flexibility, same way of using an exceptional footballing brain (and superb work-rate) to make more of his abilities than more obviously gifted teammates, and as you say, the same knack of turning up and scoring goals regularly whatever his job on the pitch.

Yes! I'd literally just started to put him in that category myself. There are a couple of them in each age group these days. Although I have to say I think Lingard and Weir's similarities go beyond that, there are other things that they have in common too.
EDIT: And cheers for the clip, although really (should have been more clear) I wanted to see the 'lovely move' leading up to the goal.
