U21s: Manchester United vs Sunderland

Our U21 team is so much better than the first team. To watch.

Warren Joyce for manager!

We've been on a different level to Sunderland, who have been happy to do nothing but spoil. 18th attempt on goal. Very impressed with tonight's showing.

Brilliant feet from Willock to create space for himself and find Keane. His flick on to Weir was excellent

Sunderland are top of the league too.

How did he miss that.. But we have been much better and that goal was fantastic.

Adnan's had about 10 shots tonight. About 3 of them were worth trying. Don't know what's going on in his head

Oh varela! Just had to get the ball past the only S'land player, 3 people waiting

Finally! 6 minutes of time added on.. where the hell did the ref get that much time

good game to watch, that. first half noticeably better than the second, but still a good showing. Warren James Joyce has my vote as a first team manager.

Willock, Harrop and Riley played really well. especially RoShaun Williams, who held his own against that huge S'land striker. Scoreline doesn't reflect how one sided the game was

Oh feck forgot this was on tonight. Anyone care to sum it up for me?

Sunderland were very defensive, stats were something like 15 shots for United and 2 for Sunderland. Pereira and Januzaj were unsurprisingly the standout players, for all his moments of class throughout the game Januzaj was trying a bit too hard towards the end and was leathering shots from everywhere. Varela looked good and was linking with Januzaj well, Weir had a solid game and slotted in a great team goal. Adnan and Pereira both played a full game.

EDIT: Technically Adnan was subbed off in the 91st min.

+ 1. sounds about right from what i saw.

Well deserved victory tonight. Sunderland's game plan was to frustrate and grab something jammy on the counter/ set piece. But unlike our first team counterparts they were patient, created opportunities well into the double figures whilst limiting the opposition to less than a handful.

Harrop is a very tidy player, Pereira and Weir were also pretty good. Januzaj was a bit too greedy but had some positive moments.

For me, Will Keane does not cut the mustard, even for U-21 level. He's been very unfortunate with injuries and whatnot and sadly I think he's lost his ruthlessness in front of goal. He should have had at least a brace tonight.

long story short - we had 15 shoots, Januzaj had 10+.....in the little time where him and Pereira warent on the ball we managed to score a great team goal. Varela, Weir and Harrop the standouts. So basically the opposite of what @MyOnlySolskjaer said to you :D

I thought all the age groups were supposed to mirror LvG's philosophy? either Joyce is just doing it better, or isn't listening.

Thanks khoazany. That's shit news. He must have been injured for a while now? It's been a good while since I've heard of him. Hope it's nothing serious.

Probably will be out for a few more weeks.
