U21s: Manchester City vs. Manchester United

It is. LVG is that anal about having a left footed option at CB that we sent Nani on loan, paying his wages and Blackett played when we clearly have other better CBs

He's been using Jones at LCB quite often recently, even when Rojo and Blackett have been fit. Actually, LVG might feel Jones is better on the left side - similar to Terry for Chelsea.

We've also been heavily linked with Hummels and Otamendi - two right footed players who play left centre back.

Kellett will surely play first team football next season for Bolton. He reminds me of Schulpp who was also on trial with us before.

Williams on for Reid, who has struggled in the second half.

Thought that was my wifi but apparently all the river has been beyond terrible today.

Good to see Williams making his U21s debut.Just finished his exam not long ago.

3-1 Iheanacho gets his second, looks like a brilliant young player.

3-1 FT

Game of two halves but all in all City were the better side. Rothwell our best player, Gribbin had a decent cameo.

Results aside, interesting to see Williams seems to be ahead of Borthwick-Jackson in the U21s pecking order despite being 2 years younger (the latter was on the bench but didn't make the 16).Could well see the same U18s back five (Reid,Tuanzebe,Williams,CBJ with Fosu-Mensah DM) in the U21s at some points next season.

Interesting to see him at RB as well. Didn't contribute much though he was slightly better than Reid. We'd probably be better off moving Love to RB and Williams inside.

It's a normal practice to play young defender out wide or further up the field on their debut at U18s/U21s level so that they don't have to cope with as much pressure as if they play centrally.

Interesting to remark that Williams is 4 years younger than El-Fitouri and the former was trusted to come on instead.

I suppose generally speaking that's true, but in this instance he probably would've been better protected next to Thorpe in a position he's more familiar with rather than face-to-face with Baker or Barker or whatever the hell City's quality winger is called. Reid was taken off as he couldn't handle him.

Yeah and he dealt with it quite well to be fair - only will help his case for next season.

Pains me to say it, but the facilities at City are fantastic, I've got tour of the Etihad Campus next week, should be interesting.

You're the one whose son's in the academy, right? Just so you know; letting City poach your kid = permaban.
