U18s: United vs Leeds

Was about to say Ibragimov has gone quiet since his early assist but that was very well worked. Easy tap in for Scanlon to finish.

Who was that who hit that cross field pass to Amass at the start of the move? Was a great pass.

Another assist for Ibragimov. For someone of his height, he is surprisingly good at heading. Also scored a well directed header couple of weeks ago if I'm not wrong.
 
Need at least one more early on in the second half to create that cushion we might need later in the match. Leeds haven’t been that poor despite the scoreline.
 
Strange game. Obviously playing well and leading 3-0 but the feeling is that something is missing.
Deveany and Baumann are not not dominant and Matanto is completely anonymous

Yeah we are lack of that "controller" on midfield (Fritzegald or T.Fletcher would fit in nicely). Ibragimov had to drop deep many times to get the ball.

One of the main problems I have with Baumann is he's a nice player to watch but don't have that "main man" aura and mindset (demand the ball and be super confident in his ability etc).

Yeah, a bit like Ashton Missin, great technical ability but never really take the initiative themselves.

Probably Mario Götze. Versatile and multi-functional, impacts games even when he doesn't see much of the ball, makes simple but effective passes in the final third.

Dunno if Ibragimov will be anywhere as good as young Götze (who made 24 goal contributions at age 18!) at senior level, but he seems to fit that archetype.

No, they do have an element of Terminator about them?

Theyve got ability, they’re comfortable on the ball, but after watching Amorims interview (and his point about work ethic/effort), I think he’ll love this lot - given his preferred style, you can see a few of these would fit. Its just the usual ‘how many teens make it to the “full” level?’ question now.
 
Started okay but have given the initiative to Leeds now. Got a feeling we need one more goal.

By the way it seems that Tyler Fletcher has suffered some kind of an injury before the international break. He didn’t feature for Scotland U19s, not in the squad today either.
 
As long as we hold on to this, it’s a more valuable experience to do it this way than having another 5-6 goal lead early on. This is the same as holding on to a 1-goal lead in a knockout game. Need to learn how to do that too.
