U18s: United vs. Fulham

Every time I watch this supposedly amazing United youth side, they're getting completely outplayed.

Harsh.

Fulham only got in this match in the last 15-20 minutes.

That should've been a goal. Poor finish by Bryne.

Poor poor defending by Grimshaw there. Lucky.

They just look a better side to me.

Whenever I watch we're always bitty and usually weak in the middle of the pitch. There's some good individual talents no doubt, but unless I'm missing something people are getting a bit carried away with this team

The midfielders and attackers are good IMO. It's the defenders which has costed us this season.

That's what people are excited about i would think. There are certainly weak links as a team for various reasons.

Also, best 2 players and the best striker are not playing this match. One of which has been promoted full time to the U21's and one is in the process of being too.

Ionnaou has grown a bit since i last saw him. Not a left back though.

Barmby and Byrne look like a set of retarded twins with them hairdos.

Anyone know how tall is Gollini ?

I like both him and Pereira....

What happened to Coll ?

Is it me or has James Wilson grown in height?

What injury/injuries did Rothwell have to keep him out for a year?

FFS, suggest you watch a little more then.

Our top scorer injured for weeks, no Daelhi, no Love or Perreira starting and playing a side top of the league. Give your head a wobble mate.

The best player in Adnan moving to the U21. We're playing the best youh sides in the country every week, something we've not done before.

Bar one game I can't remember us being outplayed in too many games pre Christmas.

Thy are I'd say. As spurs are the u21. Januzaj, Daelhi, Perreira, Wilson, Pearson etc are definaty players to be excited about.

In short noods, you're talking bollocks :jol:

Good job that was cleared off the line because it was an awful call to give a corner!

Calm down LondonRed. :p

Good to see Wilson back and on the scoresheet straight up.

They're all good players no doubt. Just that as a team they've always flattered to deceive when I've caught them. Perreira for example always looks really classy but seems to float around not really impacting on the game.

I really like Jack Barmby too, though I've hardly seen anything of him this season.

He he calm down? Not sure that's possible :) it's alright I shared a season ticket with noodlegay

I miss that seat :(. I never got into any fights with the opposition keeper when I was sat there either.

How's Barmby coming on? 2 assists I see today.

Seems to have a good left on him. Can anyone see him breaking through as a left winger/AM?

U18s: United 3 Fulham 1

Manchester United's Under-18s recorded a superb 3-1 victory over league leaders Fulham at Carrington.

Sam Byrne struck twice inside five first-half minutes before his replacement James Wilson wrapped things up in stoppage time once Pat Roberts had pulled one back for the high-flying Cottagers.

Marek Rodak was tested early on by Jack Barmby, when the United forward fired in a cross-shot from a difficult angle after being fed by Jack Rudge. The Reds continued to look threatening against much-vaunted opponents and Liam Grimshaw was the driving force behind the opener.

The skipper powered out of defence, dribbling past two defenders, before crossing from the right for Joe Rothwell to head goalwards. Rodak did well to paw the effort away but Byrne pounced on the rebound, shooting in off a post.

Barmby was the provider of the second strike, dispossessing Josh Passley to tee up Byrne, who supplied a sweet finish across Rodak to double the lead. Fulham always looked capable of replying, but Barmby and Byrne were unlucky with raking drives at the other end.

Pierluigi Gollini made a couple of smart stops but was powerless to prevent Roberts from scoring in the final seconds of the first half with a perfectly-placed curler following a fine run by George Williams down the right, leaving Barmby in his wake.

Byrne spurned a chance to seal his hat-trick but the hosts had to defend for periods of the second half. Gollini made another top-class stop to thwart Emerson Hyndman and Liam Donnelly headed a chance over the top. Donelly then had another opportunity but Rudge cleared off the line.

But United finished strongly and, after Andreas Pereira almost clinched the points, Wilson provided the coup de grace by following up on a Barmby shot to prod home from close range.

United: Gollini; Evans (Harrop 46), Grimshaw, Dalley, Ioannou; Weir, Pearson, Rothwell (A.Pereira 81), Rudge, Barmby; Byrne (Wilson 74). Subs not used: O'Hara, Wilkinson.

Patrick Roberts - definitely one to watch. standout from Victory Shield campaign (along with Mitchell, for example).

Aye Roberts was impressive yesterday. He's great dribbler and always looks comfortable in possession in tight spaces.

Pearson was the best player on the pitch again and the returning Rothwell was very classy also.
