Are we hot favourites for this? We had a shock defeat early last year if I recall?
I am so much more looking forward to this game than to watch the first-team play
Bizarre. Ten Hag has gone now. There's so much to look forward to at first team level.I am so much more looking forward to this game than to watch the first-team play

I just don't share the negativity I guess.Until we’re in the next crisis cycle again and hounding out yet another manager. The bolded has been said regarding Moyes, LvG, José and OGS. And nothing’s changed.
So I get what @lysglimt is saying.

Fair enough. We can all look at something and have our own perception of what we see. For instance, I couldn't believe how negative Gary Neville was in his commentary on Sunday. He basically slagged off our entire summer transfer business and was very damning of our performance in general. I couldn't have disagreed more with both points.I can respect that. In fact I try to avoid negativity, especially on this forum. Plenty of that already in here. Just find it hard to get excited about yet another project but of course I'm interested in seeing what Amorim can do with the resources he has.
So don't be a grumpy git like me, hope we've got something to celebrate soon.

Anyway, hopefully a good win tonight.
True, it's only natural to be wary. There has been a lot of 'turning points' over the last decade. I'm optimistic though. Some genuine quality players and an up and coming young manager who has a system that is seemingly conducive to giving us more control. That seems to be Gary Neville in a nutshell these days.
I don’t like being sceptical but can’t help it to be honest. Over a decade of this shite takes its toll. Still there’s Kobbie and Amad, Licha and Yoro etc. So some players that give me hope.
And nothing would make me more happy than a few of these youngsters making it in the first team. Even the lack of success would be easier to take.
Think we’ll smash them tonight.
I just hope that we don’t lose and prove our mental fragility again
We might - but I am still so much more looking forward to watching these guys play

True. Though it's at a very low level. The first team are making great strides in this regard. It's not negativity - it's more that I really enjoy watching the youngsters play. They do everything I want a football-team to do: a) Put pressure on the opponent b) defend as a collective c) Work their socks off

Probably Biancheri and Scanlon on the wings. Was sure Mantato would be playing. Also J. Fletcher, as T was playing on the weekend
This team has some fantastic players who are already competitive on the U21 level, I fully expect 3-4 of them to at least be given a chance in preseason and early cup games in the next 2 years. We need this FA youth cup win, with Rashford on his way out and Garnacho's faith uncertain, the academy representation in the 1st team is dangerously low. It feels like without an FAYC win the players don't get the same amount of hype and hence chances. We have a very strong team now, I just hope they perform at their usual levels.

I don't think the coaches care about hype, just how ready is the individualWe need this FA youth cup win, with Rashford on his way out and Garnacho's faith uncertain, the academy representation in the 1st team is dangerously low.
