Clearly not what I said. I was making the point that at the moment, both are being forced to. Whereas we can't always afford to, given the tiny margins at the top.Are they forced to or are they free to, make your mind up, it can't be both.

As it happens, I'd say that Spurs and 'pool are forced to, and Arsenal choose to.
This process would be a lot easier if you read the things you are responding to more carefully. Also if you were a little less reactionary. I'm not trying to slag off the club, nor am I saying that anyone is going to be 'the next big thing.' I'm just saying that our U18s are really, really good. Ok?
Be good to see how they fair against sides as good as them at their level now.
It goes in cycles and there are many variants to factor in...
Historically we have still been the most successful at bringing kids through and still have Welbeck, Evans, Cleverley, Fletcher who were all in squad on Saturday.
Liverpool have no pedigree at youth level while others are much better at it...Spurs, Chelsea, City and Arsenal all have had decent youth systems in the past but seem to have been going backwards in recent seasons...
