U18s Squad Season 2018-2019

So it seems we've signed a goalkeeper from Czech Republic. Fell under the radar. Not many signings this year as compared to previous years.

Seems like we rate him highly, he played in the Milk Cup for us last Summer & we sent Alan Fettis out to his club to do some goalkeeping coaching a couple of months ago

Obviously the scouts/coaches know what they're doing, but wasn't overly impressed with him in the bits and bobs I saw of him at the MC last year.
I think he made a mistake in 1 of the early games in the tournament but to be fair to him he had only arrived back from playing in a tournament for Czech Republic in China & hadn't even been able to train with the team because flights were cancelled. He was very good in some of the later games in the Milk Cup

As I said the scouts/coaches will know what they're doing, and Alan Fettis will have forgotten more about goalkeeping than i'll ever know, but he got(of those I saw)nearly every dive wrong, either diving too early, or far too late, though arriving last minute as you say wouldn't have helped with that, that's one hell of a flight to make.

Didn't see much of him with the ball at his feet, or catching crosses which may be the strongest part of his game.

Looking forward to seeing him, and hope he settles as quickly as Matej Kovar appeared to.

Will Vint added to @ManUtd u-18 intake: Meanwhile, Will Vint, an American-born midfielder, is also part of the Under-18s group and will travel with the rest of the squad to Austria next week for a pre-season training camp.

Which other Czech keeper are you talking about? I must have missed it

EDIT: Just reading it is Ondřej Mastný. Never heard of him

Shola's very highly rated, or am I confusing him with someone?

According to MEN, Will Vint has left United because he was denied a visa.
Meanwhile, Academy midfielder Will Vint has left the club and is returning to the United States. The 16-year-old has failed to secure the required Visa in order to take up his position as a scholar with Ryan's Under-18s squad.

Hence, his development will continue in his homeland, but United will ensure full support in this process, even though he is no longer with the club.

Naturally, everybody is disappointed with the situation and wishes Will well, with the club continuing to keep tabs on his development.

“It’s so unfortunate for Will, as he was settling in and training well with the other players,“ Head of Academy Nicky Butt told ManUtd.com. ”He is a well-liked player and we wanted him to be part of the group, and Manchester United, but sometimes these things crop up and you have to deal with them - for the club but, most importantly, the player himself.

“He will return home to America and look at other options and clubs – we will keep close tabs on him and continue to monitor his progress.”
