U18: Man United vs. Man City

Perhaps the whole my-kid-ditched-United-and-Arsenal spiel was just a bit of paternal spin-doctoring then.

Certainly didn't look too special today.
Yeah neither us or Arsenal offered him a contract we had a lot of worries about his kicking. I heard he wasnt particularly impressive in his trial for City either which tells you all you need to know about their recruitment policy

Well the facts speak for themselves. They have 11 players brought in from abroad in their under 18s alone. There's no way that a club brings in all these players along with the players already there thinking they could actually make it at the club its a scatter gun approach throwing money around and hoping 1 or 2 might come good and attempting to make your academy look better than it actually is and gain a bit of prestige by winning under age tournaments. It requires very little thought or scouting ability to sign kids based on reputation.

Well as long as they stop poaching our players from the younger age groups I don't mind them spending money whatever way they want.An academy need a bit of reputation to attract top class youngsters though that's why they have to throw the money around to get a good side first. They have some very good youngsters in their rank tbf although it definitely not a smart way of investment.

Just heard today City have offered a parent £400 a week to move his son to City, the Lad is 9!
