U18: Chelsea vs United

3-3 Burkhart ... really fighting for it now

We have been slightly fortunate but you need to be against this Chelsea-side.

Classy from Chelsea always. Giving the ball back by firing it into the corner for a throw in.

Shit defending. Our right back got beat 80 yards up the pitch. What the hell was he doing!?! Then a pathetic attempt to bring the lad down.

4-3 Chelsea - and our right-side is absolutely awful defensively. Castillo simply runs past 2 players and a simple tap in from 3 yards from his cross.

Yup...we have more or less given them 3 goals

Was that ever realistic though? Chelsea and City are obviously a bit better.

Don't think there are much between United, Liverpool, Chelsea and City tbh (comparing the usual squad at this level not the FA Youth Cup squad).

You obviously know more than me about this but I feel like those 2 teams are also especially more developed physically and also have individual stars. I think O'Connor, Gomes, Chong, Buffonge and perhaps Boonen would get in at those clubs but few others.

Put it this way: you are doing well if you get one future first team player from any group of u18s. City are calling this current group their 'golden generation', the best ever seen at City. This generation make up about 5 or 6 first team players in an excellent under 17 England team. However, the highest rated player and captain of that England side, as he has been through numerous age groups at international level, is United's Angel Gomes. If he fulfills his potential at United what City and Chelsea are doing in this age group at this point in time will be of little concern to United.
So you have an individual player who looks special. No disputing that.
You also have some more talented individuals, again no argument, but to suggest that your team matches up to the Chelsea and City equivalent is somewhat optimistic?

Personally I wouldn't agree with that. We gave some tremendous attacking players but the defence has let us down this season. Hence losing 4-3 today. City's youth team has been excellent as a unit this year.

Think we mostly agree then?
Not seen much of your team but follow reports pretty closely and you seem to have an above average crop just a short distance behind the others.
