Not just on this game and with my current mood but I don’t rate him that highly and haven’t since he signed. Fee was cheap though but for me he is a Buttner, Williams, Telles level etc. He is certainly not the next Evra. Hopefully Shaw will be back soon and Malacia can go back to the bench.
The issue is if Licha is out for long, Shaw will probably come into CB, and we'll be stuck with Malacia at LB

He has generally been alright but that was the most basic of mistakes you really shouldn't be seeing in a professional footballer.

I dont like him as a player as he makes simple things look difficult. He deters on the ball and I believe it is because of his poor technical ability. I have zero faith he will make the right choice when he has it.

I really liked him at the start of the season and still like him. However, he was very disappointing today. Thought he was very poor.

That was a terrible game for him. I wonder if ETH will tear him a new one for that mistake. Totally switched off, Titus Bramble-like.

Malacia has had an underwhelming first season at United, which doesn't seen to be coming to and end anytime soon. Don't think he has gotten to grips with EPL yet.

He's awareness and reaction was really poor for the first goal, i expected better from him. He was all over the place and hesitant in making decisions at times. Seems to be lacking a bit in confidence.

Still think he's a steal and will come good. Just hoping Alvaro Fernandez will also be available next season to provide cover and competition for the left back spot.

Very true. But I’d just about rather him left back than Maguire play at CB. Varane and Shaw have looked very good together.

Not at all. The consensus was an overall poor game. Little offered attacking or defending.

We have seen too many times he switches off when positioning himself in defence, and does little to provide an attacking outlet.

I meant Malacia is going to get a hammering… didn’t work it clear enough.

Early on in the year he had some solid games. Recent appearances have left a lot to be desired

Like the guy a lot but struggled all game and a shocking error. Hopefully he'll bounce back on Sunday and put in a good performance.

In no way absolving him but his entire flank didn't have a great game to be fair, Sancho and then Elanga are not going to help you out of a tough spot.

He simply isn't good enough. Seems like a good lad but that's not enough.
I hope we set the bar a lot higher in the future. Being a good lad should not be a reason to tolerate his personal limits, especially when those are glaringly hurting us when it matters.

Just deal with it, clear it, whatever it is. He knows the guy is there because he was with him basically a second before. So you gotta just deal with it and reset whether it's a corner or throw in or whatever

Leaving the ball is criminal

What an absolute tit leaving that ball. Changed the entire momentum of the game. His performance otherwise was criminal. I'd rather have Telles back at this point. At least he brought something to the team going forward.

It's cheap to say it tonight, but I've seen very little from him so far this season. Right attitude, but he hasn't ever looked like he'll ever be good enough.

Neither good enough. Alvaro Fernandez us better than both and should be promoted next year, I’d keep AWB and Dalot who can play left back as well and sign Frimpong.

ETH needs to understand and quickly, the HG rule needs to be 10 players for a squad of 27/28. Mallacia is a palace left back at best and should be sold, it’s not his first horror show and we probably get £20-25m for him, he’s not in the same conversation as AWB and he’s stopping a HG space being filled.

Pretty sure some were trying to say this guy was better than Luke Shaw. By far the weakest link for the entirety of the game tonight, mistake excluded even.

Can't remember if he was that bad throughout the evening but that's how it is at this level, playing for United. Little mistakes can result in goals can turn around games.
He’s definitely not bad the whole game, but he has more than a few moments really bad. It’s pretty weird. The whole team was similar. An inconsistent performance today. I think the issue is in midfield, Casimiro and Bruno partnership lacks of complementary to each other. We were never really proactively controlling the game.

I’d rather have Brandon Williams play left back. Malacia plays like a central midfielder tasked to play fullback in an emergency, he just doesn’t seem to have the tactical sense to play there. Today against Sevilla his error led to a goal, but it was an error any normal defender never makes. Luke Shaw is mikes better.

As a signing of course he's been very good. He cost €15m, is one relatively low wages, let us get rid of the awful Telles, has been a perfectly fine second-choice in his position and is still young enough to keep improving. That's a very good buy.
He hasn’t shown anything that suggests he’s better than Telles.

Telles started fairly well, but he kept getting worse despite actually getting a good run of games.

Malacia started fairly well, but has become quite inconsistent over the last couple months. Overall he's certainly been better, but obviously he needs to make sure that games like today don't happen again.

Poor night , hope he'll learn from this. He has the tools and age is on his side.

Fullback/wingback is a very trick position to comment on. Their weaknesses can easily be masked in a good team performance, but exposed when the team is under pressure. The likes of Alonso, Cancelo etc. had enjoyed some great moments but were got rid of very soon after their good spell. The same applies to Malacia, and this explains all the positivity when he arrived. I'm never convinced by his performance and he's just an obvious weak link in the team, so obvious that every team is bombarding our left flank when he plays.

Clever tactically, but average in his production.

Can't combine well enough with his forward, lose too many easy ball.

I am disapointed with him yesterday. It was an overconfident mistake by him and costly one.

Sahw will finish the season as CB I fear so Malacia will play the rest of the games

I can see why ETH likes him, because he’s comfortable on the ball and he’s always willing to get forward. But he always has a mistake in him, such as being caught way out of position or giving the ball away needlessly in a dangerous situation, as we saw last night.

Bit harsh to blame it on one player, but I feel we would have been far more likely to hold on for the win if Shaw had been playing. Malacia was the weak link in our defence and Sevilla knew it.

Malacia was very poor, not just due to the first goal conceded. If Martinez is out, we need to play Shaw as a CB and put Dalot on the left instead of Malacia

He's a young backup left back. With a bit more polish and experience he'll be fine to play 20-25 games a season as Shaw's deputy, but there'll always be a big drop-off when it happens. There are too many deficiencies in his game to see him as a long term first choice.

Be interesting to see how Fernandez develops, he may end up being Shaw's successor.

A few over the top comments after last night.

I think he's had a promising season overall given his role and cost. It's been a bit up and down but I didn't expect a mega consistent player given its his first season and a big step up.

He had a poor game last night and he really should have sniffed out the first goal and lost the ball in key areas. Over the course of the season, he has been fine. I think he knows what EtH expects of him, he's always willing to receive the ball, end product may not be as great, but he's been a good signing considering the cost and the room for improvement.

He was bad last night but he’s been a very good addition to the team and the right kind of squad player to add (based on this season).

Think i'd prefer giving Alvaro Fernandez a chance personally

The biggest worry of all with him is his penchant for compounding mistakes - if he makes one, he's guaranteed to make more in succession and he's absolutely primed for targeting.

If he's in our starting xi, he will be seen as the inlet to breaching our back line.

Hope we start Dalot over him. He himself is poor to average, but he's a literal league above Malacia.

Was Shocking from the first whistle last night and just got worse, like he's unwell or something. He'll have better games for sure.
