There is a lot wrong with Arsene`s lates whinge - in fact everything. Did Manchester United set the Rio Ferdinand price? Of course not.
Less was offered but Leeds (understandably) were going to hold Manchester United to ransom - Rio was wanted very badly by Leeds, he is their captain, and he has the potential to be a genuine world class player unlike the endless treadmill of pretenders to world class status that emerge from Anfield. A certain diver springs to mind.
Yes, Rio may be worth less but had Manchester United refused to pay more Rio would still be at Leeds. Manchester United`s status is such that other clubs will be able to hold it to ransom because of its spending power and prestige. Too bad Liverpool supporters will never experience being part of such a football club!

The only reason Rio cost 30m is because of his nationality. A la Lampard's 11m to Chelsea last year. I think you would have been better off getting 2/3 defenders in for that cash. Finnan or Carr would be excellent additions for any team. To say Pool's production line is poor is plain silly <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />
