Music Tyler, The Creator

I've always wanted to get into his music as I really like the guy, but it's not really my thing. I'll never forget the funk flex freestyle though  I was actually just watching it again recently for a laugh.

Maybe I'll give his music another go and sit down to listen to it properly. @Solius which albums would you recommend to start off with? It doesn't feel like that long ago when he was first coming onto the scene and I was following oddfuture and their escapades just because they were hilarious to watch. Then all the weird shit about Earl going to some island to school after being sent away by his family, and all the message board detectives trying to figure out what happened to him.

Flower boy is probably the best album that combines his old school stuff with new wave stuff.

Depends what kind of stuff you’re into but yeah Flower Boy is probably the most accessible.

Saw Odd Future when they first came to the UK and they got the crowd chanting "feck school". Knew I was too old for their music even then.

Ordered the Vinyl the other day when it went on sale. Bit controversial since we've barely heard any of the album, but sure look.

Album hasn't grown on me at all. I think it's all a bit too samey production wise compared to stuff he's done before. That on top of quite a lot of non catchy songs in favour of more personal conceptual ones means it's not hitting like I wanted.

St Chroma is decent, Ra Tah Tah is ok, Noid grew on me but still meh, Darling I could be from Flower Boy/CMIYGL, Hey Jane is dull sonically, I Killed You has a really interesting beat but I think it's wasted, Judge Judy is a play once and never again, Sticky is crap imo, Take Your Mask Off again is just generic Tyler, Tomorrow I can't even remember what that sounds like, Thought I Was Dead is solid and loved Q's verse, Like Him is decent, Balloon is actually one of my faves as at least it's different production wise and Doechii killed it. Final track is just basic again.

Pretty forgettable overall really. If you're not going to switch up your prod that much then you at least need some more catchy stuff going on either with your flow or song structures. Feels like he tried to do a bit of a Mr Morale except the songs aren't as good. There's no Auntie Diaries on here.

I like it and think he's pretty consistent in bringing out 7/10+ albums but feels like nothing will hit like Flower Boy did again. That was elite.

It's a nice album but it has no replayability for me. Well put together, well produced as usual but it's absolute levels below Flower Boy and Igor.
